I'm afraid I'm a wuss, spent half of today crying wondering how we'll cope, he's stressed and we're trying to crate train as per trainer's instructions. We didn't get any sleep last night, I haven't eaten for 2 days and this is... hard. Parents everywhere feel free to laugh at me now ;)

Although I've never had a dog I know crate training is supposed to be a very good thing, but I must confess that if it were me he'd be snuggled on the bed :o

My neighbour's little dog is crate-trained and seems very happy and secure. She retreats in there when she wants some peace and quiet!

    Softstuff, he is so cute.

So I have two dogs (used to have 3) and they both are trained to have their own space to sleep in. It really is worth just leaving them to cry for a couple of nights (despite the lack of sleep). They soon adjust, knowing you are coming to give them lots of cuddles in the morning.

Apparently the breed can become very dependant without early training, by that I mean 24/7, and while there's usually someone home, we don't want him anxious alone either. The trainer is a lovely lady... without us even commiting to her course, she's been on the phone to us a couple of hours today, she really has his best interests at heart. Needless to say, we'll be training with her. We'd like a sociable, secure dog who enjoys us, but doesn't need us every hour of the day. But I'd also like to win the lottery and right now I'm not sure what is more likely!

I need sleep, urgently. Have drunk wine!

They're just like babies Softstuff - the first 18 years are the worst! Seriously though good on you and Hubby for taking Dexter and ensuring he will be a well brought up boy. Love the name and he's gorgeous!
Wishing all fencers a Happy and Healthy New Year and the resilience to face all the challenges that 2016 will throw at us!

That's true :( Hopefully she's all right. She posted a few months ago and said she was really busy. But I can't remember how long ago that was.

monnagran, if you're reading along, please pop in to let us know you're all right and just busy. Hope all's well with you and the Rev.
  • Hi folks, MONNAGRAN is having computer connection problems which are persistent and it's not easy for her to post at the moment. Hopefully we will meet up in the early days of this month and I'll be able to pass on all her news. She's fine though, just electronically challenged!!!

Lovely dog Softstuff, I have 3 dogs and he will soon settle down and get used to his crate. My dogs are not crate trained but do all sleep in their own baskets.

I've taken the Christmas tree and decorations down today and had a good clean around, I always amazed how much bigger the living room looks when it all gets put away.
