All this rehoming of veg makes me very envious of of your lotties and gardens. You can rehome any fruit and veg any time with me there are none that I dislike. I am lucky I have such a good market.
Well that is two summers over in this wet place. The only warm sunny day this summer was spent waiting around in waiting rooms at the Christie hospital. I have never managed a day out at all. I have decided I will keep trying for a day out through the winter.
One bit of good news I have had this summer was I saw my oncologist on Thursday and he says I can take my tablets for one more year and then he will try me without and see how I go on. Must say it will be good to be without the side effects. I will still go to the hospital regularly and still have scans regularly.0 -
That's good news Maggie :T I hope this year passes quickly for you.
Floss I've never tried ox cheeks. I have come across them on TV cooking shows, so if they are now being used in expensive restaurants that'll soon be another cheap cut that's no longer cheap :mad: They don't appeal to me though, like hearts, brains, tongue and sweetbreads _pale_0 -
Ivyleaf if slow cooked they are just like good braised steak - but I get the feeling...I can remember my mum telling us "it's chicken" when it was actually rabbit stew (and my little brother's rabbit lived in the back garden
)

That's good news Nursemaggie.
Another one here not keen on 'other' parts of the animal. I actually only eat chicken (not rabbit!), ham and salmon. Only occasionally will I have beef but really don't like pork or lamb. I remember having heart at school, it even had the tubes in, all sliced up to look like beef!
Not a bank holiday here, just a normal day. The weather has been ok but rained this evening. I've lit the fire as the builders have had the doors open all day.
Need to have an early night, the weekend is taking its toll. The house is coming on but it's such hard work! Had friends round for dinner last night which was lovely, just eaten the left overs for tea tonight.0 -
You have my sympathies re. builders camelot! Mine are due back tomorrow after a long weekend off. There have been a few delays in the main projects (bathroom and external paintwork) which were combined so that they could balance work and weather (external paintwork when fine, bathroom when not), so I have got them started on a few additional projects while they're here
So they'll be around for a while, but my heating will be sorted, my loft insulation redone, and a new loft hatch with ladder installed. I need to think what else to add to the list while I have them captive!

Odd really, I like liver, and steak-and-kidney pie
ETA I like rabbit too, but it's really expensive where we live so I don't buy it.
Camelot - I never had heart at school, but at school in Scotland we did have black pudding occasionally! I like that too though.0 -
Ooh Greenbee - would love a meet up. Funnily enough I was thinking about pm-ing MrsL - would be great!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Yay, it stopped raining long enough for OH to cut the hedge. No more getting wet when I'm putting next door's bins away in the alley between our houses :j0
