Lost a couple of hours today reading a book that was recommended to me as 'the best book ever'.
I read 11% according to my kindle & nothing had happened apart from 2 people trembling with lust every time they met. No sex happened, just a lot of trembling, I gave up & will look for something else to read, a nice murder mystery or something similar.
Apart from that I managed to get my paid for sewing job done & hubby got loads done in the garden, he has built 3 raised bed in the garden as our soil is really poor. This estate was built on an old railway goods yard so there are chunks of tarmac & concrete interspersed with lumps of clay. we also have 3 compost bins that produce enough to top up the beds every year. We also have a small garden but hubby manages to produce loads of veg in it.
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Thank you Sheila :)

Stilty we have a sensory garden by the back door. It's wonderful. As soon as you walk outside the smell of mint hits you. We sit on the yard floor with our chalks and crayons and draw on the floor. Beside us is the herb garden ( just a box), with oregano, chives and basil. The colours are amazing.

We have another patch with a cat tree we made from bits of bits of wood, all different types and textures. With bells and strings hanging off it.

Very recently we bought lavender, just repotted them so fingers crossed fragrance will come from them too.
On the wall I put a butterfly wall art thing up, bought it in the same for £2 reduced from £20. Stringing clematis through it for the colours.

Another good to grow is salad leaves and peas. They really quick. Ldol sell a cut your own salad tray for about £1.20 well worth buying.

Kez - So far we have 1 raised planter with a variety of rockery stones and shells in it, I'm planning to do another few planters one with grasses, one with herbs and a couple of others. My dad is making a wooden outdoor xylophone but quite soft sounds (we have 5 adjoining gardens so don't want to annoy with anything too noisy or constant noise). I also plan to put up a range of tactile panels on the fence panels and some shaped acrylic mirrors. I also have some outdoor fibre optics and some sort of sculptural things that are snails/butterflies etc which have solar powered light in them. We also have a nest swing to put up (present from BIL - well replacement pressie as the original offering was a climbing frame!!! interesting present for non walking wheelchair using children, but there you go - lol) and are going to get a trampoline.

lol - i'm 5ft 2.5 inches. poor mum was 4ft 11 and a half and has shrunk to 4ft 10. Great gran was 4ft 6. So i'm considered a giant of a woman in my family having smashed that 5 ft barrier...

uniform mending is done ready for tomorrow, I am very far behind with the washing and housework, as have tried to do diy and spend some time with the littlies enjoying ourselves this weekend. So it will just have to be chipped away at.

The glorious thing about house work is it is all still there tomorrow waiting for you whether you've done some today or not ;).

    and so to bed......
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

A bit like the repeats on BBC, "another chance to see..." for any housework you missed the first time.

Wow - how quickly this thread is moving! Great to see old & new 'neighbours' leaning on the fence.
I've quickly skimmed through - dying to hear how Miss Stilty gets on with her presentation - she'll be grill I'm sure.
Bowing to GQ for the work on the Lottie - I'm surprised you can move at all after that.
DH has done sterling work sanding the boat - we've nearly finished, just need a couple more dry days.
Agree about squirrel meat - they're just rats with pretty tails!
The raised beds are great - DH made me a couple some years ago & its made growing crops so much easier. They're not that big but its amazing how much you can grow.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Good evening everyone, have been lurking and reading on and off all day.

I think I have joined the thread at the right time as things are going to be very tough for us over the next few weeks. DH is starting a new job tomorrow which is commission only, so am feeling a bit down at the moment.

I have been reading the forum for months now and have implemented a few things, but really feel quite overwhelmed at times, so don't really know what to do first. I think this thread is going to be very helpful for me, so will keep reading and posting.

As to gardening, I do like it and love the idea of growing our own, however, we are renting at the moment and think we could be moving soon, so will have to start planning lots of pots to take with us. I have applied for an allotment, but guess it will be a few years before we are lucky to get one.

Sorry to ramble on so much but I don't really have any friends to talk to so its nice to be able to tell you all. I feel that I know many of you from reading the threads, so its nice to chat. Sorry to offload, I'm sure I will feel better tomorrow. Thanks for listening.:)

Welcome to the ever-expanding garden fence, wealthygirl, there is always room for one more! And that goes for anyone else lurking out there, there's a patch of fence with your name on it.

    But each to their own.......

Its been on tv and papers this week that lots of restaurants are now selling squirells.........

Squirrel meat raises your cholesterol levels!. It's also too much effort. Number one son had to eat it as part of a "live off the land" exercise his regiment went on. But hey, if you are out of fresh rations....

Warm today, snow is melting. Busy areas are almost snow free but the neighbourhoods have a long way to go.

Had a migraine start at work yesterday. Managed to vomit up a $30 migraine tablet into the garbage can at the nursing station just as the programme director walked on the ward. She actually had the nerve to praise me for missing the chart I was working on and for emptying the garbage can. Never thought to send me home! Husband came to drive me home and I slept for 14 hours straight and got showered and went back to work. I swear the next time a visitor tells me I'm over paid I will snap and tell him exactly how much the taxpayer pays me. So I spent the day feeding and cleaning a little old lady who really shouldn't be on our ward but the other wards refuse to take and getting shouted at by woman who claimed refugee status here, complains about the cold, refuses to care for herself, monitor her diabetes and I had to hand feed, she's all of 34 years old. She moved here from another province because she heard that we have higher welfare payments than the province she was resettled in by the federal government. So she doesn't pay for any of her medications or diabetic supplies and has better healthcare benefits than the little old lady who has lived and worked here all of her life. My Inuit patient who lived through the Residential Schools after her parents died when she was six doesn't even have the same social and financial support as this woman.

    End of rant.

Other than that, the day is beautiful, sunny and 7 degrees. mr Collie has had his walk. The husband is snoring on the couch and I'm waiting for the Walking Dead to start.

Wondercollie, it makes me  when I hear about injustices like that. Ive been like that with a migraine at work and despite all the office staff hearing me retch in the loo no one suggested I crawl home - its just a head ache to the rest of the world.

Ive planted lots of seeds and they are all cosy warm in the house for now. Im trying to sort out the reclaimed bit of my garden this year (landlord put in fences and gained me 10 foot by 30 foot patch) Im also creating a fairy garden for Dgs but to be honest he will probably be more interested in the tomatoes and raspberries as usual :T

Sheila lovely to hear you are healing well, life must be much better now you can do things.

Wealthy girl, you chat away hunny, I rarely talk to anyone but my Dd and Mum and this place keeps me sane...ish :D

Stilty you and little Miss will do fine, your nerves will go while you are concentrating on your little star. I was really annoyed when I realised I missed her tv debut but will try and find it on catch -up.
