Oh dear popperwell I think there must have been something in the air because I did the same thing
I went to the opticians and she said I was not 60 yet. I got it free anyway because I had a voucher.
Haven't kept track of my age properly for a very long time. I just hope that I haven't filled in any forms with my age.0 -
Silvasava, I think its because we sometimes forget you really don't reach an age until you are one years old.:D A double birthday...its a thought...Grandma247 so I'm not alone.
It went quite well...I went to Spennymoor(I missed the bus to Bishop Auckland by 5 mins)and I found my trays(they weren't cheap but I liked the design)so I purchased a large one, a sandwich type one and another I'm not sure what you are supposed to put on that one but they are all the same design...kind of beach huts and seagulls etc...
Then I decided to pop into the ASDA there and I came out with some ready meals and party snacks/cake. I baulked at what I had spent and then I thought the ready meals if spaced out across a week(5)come in at around £1.50 per meal and that's probably quite reasonable and quick when done in the microwave. I found some Pru Leith cakes they were £1.69 each but I couldn't make them any cheaper and she's always had high standards so they should be nice(a lemon one and walnut and coffee cake)I didn't know she was even doing a range of food for a supermarket. It seems its possibly an exclusive for ASDA.
I have a minced beef hotpot, chicken in red wine, sweet and sour chicken, liver and bacon, gammon and mash potato with a gravy(I think)I can always add some extra vegetables to pad them out further. And even serve them on plates rather than leaving them in the trays(though that saves on washing up etc...:p
I took one of the cakes to my Birthday tea but one had already been purchased(a chocolate caterpillar design)which I brought approx. half home with me.
I had a nice tea and was sung "Happy Birthday" to. The cake I took(but did not use)we are taking to the little bingo club and some small buffet items but not sure how much will be eaten brought back home...there is lemon cake, crisps, cheese, cheese straws, cherry tomatoes, chocolate fingers. And rolls but not sausage one's but apple and pork, cheese and bacon, chicken and stuffing.
Lately the buses are running a bit strangely and instead of sticking to set times between them, they seem to miss connections by a few minutes or chase each others tails or keep playing leap frog with each other. That happened yesterday. It makes it a bit difficult knowing if a bus will be waiting, has gone or is late. Yesterday, I missed a connection and was prepared to wait half an hour for the next.
Suddenly one turned up, changed its number/destination and if I hadn't been paying attention I'd have missed a bus back to my town. It turned out it was the bus I thought I'd missed but had arrived 10 minutes late. Better than sitting for another half hour in a cold open bus station. It wasn't very warm and it seems no better today.
I've been invited for another small tea before going out later and we'll catch the taxi from the same place rather than have it come for me en route. Just popping by to wish Pops a slightly belated Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoyed both your birthday teas! A friend made a birthday lunch for me last year, inviting 2 mutual friends and 2 of my "other" friends and it was one of the loveliest things anyone has ever done for me and much appreciated.
Hope everyone else is ok. I do read along but haven't recently so will try and catch up and pop back in again soon.
Sending best hugs to all0 -
Thank you SQ
I'm having a good(ish)day again...walking could be better but I've taken painkillers so that should camouflage the problem. If I was staying in it wouldn't matter. Thankfully once I catch the bus to my friends(its a short distance to walk)and the rest of the day I'll be in a taxi. Door to door. That sounded a lovely day you had for your birthday too. Simple is often best.
The weather is fooling us today...coming home from buying the milk though the sun is out I was walking into a strong wind(bad enough with a walking stick)but pulling a shopping trolley made it worse. That mobility scooter is becoming a must, though I will still do all I can to walk so I don't get used to it.
When I can watch a little TV, enjoy my music and bother with food I know I am back to my usual self and its been more that way again;)and sleep of course...

Very nice Pops - I do like the 'nautical' theme - very cheerful. The small one looks just the right size for a cuppa and some biscuits.........;)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Pops, if it helps to work things out so that you are on track with birthdays, I was born in 1958, which makes me 57, just.
So rather than being 57 like me, I presume you are now only 56. Which means you were born in 1959.

Morning all,
Happy belated birthday to Pops!
We've had a whirlwind weekend, but very nice as well. Lots of friends turned up to celebrate with us and it was very nice to catch up with some we haven't seen for a long time. We also booked our long-anticipated holiday yesterday. It feels like a big chunk of money, but we've been saving for a long time. We'll be tightening our belts further, as we've a long weekend in London this month (I'm going for a conference and OH is joining me after work for the weekend) and we'd like to keep topping up our savings towards a house one day. I was feeling overwhelmed, but then we've a £50 gift card to Mr. Ts we've been saving, I've several things in the freezer. Our plan is to eat as cheaply as possible this month so all of our London spends can come out of the shopping budget. Fingers crossed!
Maggie the cat must have taken her naughty pills this morning, she's been trying to knock things off my desk and been told off three times. I think she might need a play before I get much done!
Hugs to all who need them.x0 -

No I'm 57 like you(there, I've admitted it)Just think if Mum had had me as soon as she married I would be 67 now:eek:
Pops
I like the trays and a happy (belated) birthday.
Thank you Elona for the best wishes and for liking my trays. And Silvasava/WMF too. I really think there is something about getting through the early part of the year(with events that sit in the back of my mind)and I seem to pick up once my Birthday passes by.
I'm still eating some buffet items from the Birthday weekend so its been quite easy feeding myself these past few days."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
