Back Garden - How much to landscape???

We've currently got a tarmac covered back garden approx 8m x 4m and want to tidy it up and make it presentable by using paving and gravel. We've been to a Marshalls transformation centre and they are suggesting a cost of approx £6k for this size area (depends on what we want doing).

This seems like a lot of money to me (£180 per square metre) and whilst I appreciate there will be a lot of work involved (I presume that the tarmac will have to come up and be disposed of) can anyone give me an idea if it's over the top.

Thanks for any assistance.
Keep smiling,

Gary:rotfl:

It seems a lot to me cos my parents are having theirs done with lovely indian stone all over and bushes and shrubs, as well as having a new drive laid, all for a slightly higher price than this.It is a local tradesman rather than a big firm thats doing it though :confused:

I paid £2000 for 46 square metres, including steps and lots of cutting slabs, for materials and labour. Used local chap (excellent job) and Marshalls slabs. £6000 seems quite a lot to me...
