That cash only plan sounds great CC - I know how easy it is to spend £5 and it doesn't seem like a lot, but do it 10 times and £50 has disappeared!!!! I think that's been a problem for me, thinking "Oh that's only £2 or that's only £4 etc, and not realizing how quickly it all adds up.

The opposite must therefore be true *receives brainwave - if you pay off £2 on a debt or £4 it feels like nothing but will add up just as quickly to a lovely substantial amount!:T

I was wondering if an occasional small treat to reward yourself (perhaps every time you pay a certain amount off your balances) might motivate you and help you to not feel deprived? I think I would like to do that for myself too!

  • It was a really busy week at work which helped distract me from TJ but he sent me some messages yesterday about wanting some stuff form the house, i have no idea what he thinks he has left behind as there is nothing, so i am worried he wants something that i think is mine, so i asked what stuff he wanted and he just got really angry and was quite mean. Hey Ho - can't do anything about that now can i! If he wants to be a jerk, let him! Luckily im visiting family for Mothers day so to be honest it didn't bother me that much.

Hi what a lovely read this diary is, well done you for being so positive.
You say the above didn't bother you but I think given your drop in mood since it did.

My advice for what its worth.

Send him a email asking him to list exactly what he thinks he's left. Put it in a box and get one of your mutual friends to take it round to him.

He'll probably insist he needs to come to the house (I don't know what his motive might be, but I can think of a few). Try and avoid this at all costs.

If you can't avoid it. Make sure you are not alone when he comes round. Ideally have it coincide with the next girly drinks night.

Hi there, I read through your diary and just wanted to say that you're doing amazingly. Last year my dysfunctional relationship broke up by him saying "well it's not like I love you" after a year of dating and it's really dented my confidence. He then decided to tell me in detail about the dates he went on. So yeah, the turd really affected me, I imagine it's similar for you. All I can say is that feeling low and not feeling ready to date is totally understandable. When I started dating again, I went on a few practice dates with men I was not actually attracted to (heartless I know, but it was only the one date!), can't say that it would work for you but it helped me when I started dating guys I did like.

Additionally, you could have a peek at bookboon for free ebooks. You do need to give your email, but it's not too spammy. I will also give you (plural) help with excel if you'd like it.

    Best of luck!
  • So with Thanks to Beanie for a bit of a kick up the bum i'm back!!! I had a bit of a down in the dumps give up time when i went back to tburrying my head in the sand and blew my monthly budgets but im back on the wagon! I'm so disapointed in myself, i just completely shut down and let everything get on top of me :(

So here i am! Approaching payday - in a better position than last month but not where i wanted to be, oh well progress is progress no matter how small and slow.

Im trying to look at the positives:
    1) i now accept my situation
    2) i'm now working on fixing it not letting it get worse
    3) it could be a lot worse

ive started do the extra payment a week challenge and no matter how small they are im determined to try. I also have an emergency fund now yes it is only £5 but thats £5 more than i had this time last month and this time next month it will be £10. I've cut up one of the credit cards, i've cancelled sky, i've stopped booking expensive holidays, i've started de-cluttering, i now think about what i spend money on and i'm still ok!!!

So aims for this weekend....... clean kitchen and re-stock check. Make a meal plan for next week. continue to declutter and GO FOR A RUN!!!!!

I wanted to say a massive thank you to Beanie - i think if you hadn't had that message i'd still be off the wagon, your support means the world to me xxx

  • So its saturday and i have a lovely evening out with my ladies last night - my turn to drive so woke up without a fuzzy head :j

as you all know i fell of the wagon a little nd am so annoyed with my self for doing it. But i'm determined to get back on track. Payday is looming and i am going to account for every single penny i have in April!!!!!

My plan for today is to make next weeks meal plan, i managed to get some stuff heavily reduced in the supermarket today, i know i have lots in but for £5 i got a whole chicken, two steaks and two packs of the posh sausages. that is now all in the freezer - well invested cash i think.

Im feeling quite upbeat in general, but quite overwhelmed by the money things at the moment, i just want to go buy pretty things. Its so hard to not just bury my head in the sand and go out and buy loads of stuff........ COME ON CC - WE WANT A HOLIDAY AGAIN SOON AND WE ARE NOT GOING ON CREDIT AGAIN!!!!

clothes are my down fall, i feel so out of shape at the moment that i feel like i look awful in everything - going to do something about that though! April is also the month my diet starts :( i think im a food addict - i eat when im not hungry through bordom all the time................... i used to work out everyday but for some reason stopped and have been finding it hard to find the motivation again, but i really want to - i want to look in the mirror and like what i see!

So, you lovely lot - bully me into going running i beg you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hows is everyone spending their weekedn then?

  • Meals planned........ so pleased with myself just need to buy a packet of pasta and a bottle of milk :) and i'll still be eating like a queen (peppered steak, stir fry, sausage and mash blah blah blah i really don't feel like i'm missing out!!)

i'm missing buying new clothes...... but i have set myself the goal of loosing a stone and then i will treat myself to new jeans! i don't have really expensive ones, they are about £35 and mine are really old to be fair, but it will mean i'm down a dress size and hopefully make me feel a bit better about myself. i'm really u[p and down at the moment, one minute i'm loving life and full of optimism the next i feel empty. i think im still getting used to being by myself all the time. i know i have moaned on about it until you must all be sick of it and have stopped reading but i just want someone here when i get home from work, i want someone to share adventures with, and to spend my weekends with, someone to plan holidays with and go out with in the evening. my friends are amazing i won't take that away from them, they have been fab at adapting to my new situation, but i miss the cuddles and that feeling of knowing you have someone who is always there for you.

right moan over. i'm young successful and don't need anyone ;) time to get fit, get my finances sorted and get my head straight......... i'm terrible at putting myself first and always look after everyone else before me, i wonder if thats why i feel at a loose end, i'm not looking after anyone lol i know with debts i shouldnt be as everything should be coming off the debts but i'm thinking about putting something aside for a cheap break somewhere, just so i have some sun to look forward too???

right i'm off to paint my nails bright pink and pop a face mask on....new month new me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My meals are planned too CC - it's chilli, chilli and more chilli for me! LOL (although I'll be freezing some for another time!) I have inadvertantly "batch cooked" by having family over and doing far too much LOL!

I've still got half a pack of the uncooked mince left too, so will probably make bolognese with that and freeze it. Must collect more takeaway cartons to freeze in! :rotfl:

BTW we are all on a steep learning curve, I fell off the wagon too ( and my spreadsheet went pear shaped!:o
