Just found your diary must say its good reading, after reading this your really inspiring me to do even more to work on our finances!

For your friday night get togethers maybe a pamper party could work for you? Or to help keep it interesting i've known people who do a come dine with me type evening with a theme and people dressing up depending on the theme.

  • OOHHHH Beanie, i love the idea of a pamper party! I'm planning aready!!

So yesterday i worked some serious hours and was knackered after work - i really couldn't be bothered to cook and just wanted to go grab a take away. Then i looked for my ourse, which i had left at home as it was a NSD and took myself home and cooked myself a lovely meal from my fridge :D not only better on the bank balance but also the waistline! i was actually genuinely proud of myself.

The long day menat i didn't get any where near the library (Hummingbird i'm desperate to try these books!) so thats my job for lunch time today.

I'm going to start my own spreadsheet too - after readin ghow sucessful some of yours have been. I'm not too good at excel, i can do the basics but i'll have to do some reading up on how to make it do calculations and such like for me.

Sending off some of the bits i sold over the weekend today, so hopeful of getting my payments for them soon, thought i'd found a wardrobe for the spare room on freecycle too but they gave it to someone else as i couldnt collectuntil the weekend :(.

I've been through my Direct Debits today and am very excited to see my new energy provider has set up the DD. My switch date is next week, so i'm hopeful of getting a little refund form the gas and electric as there is quite a lot in both accounts. That might help out towards the MSM and building an emergency fund. I can't belive how i've gone through life without savings. I look back and i'm honestly horrified by the money i have wasted in the past - if only my LBM had been when i started work, i'd be financially secure by now.

I was quite down last night after work but i am quite positive today, absolutely nothing to do with a cute guy i work with asking if i fancied grabbing a drink some time ;) not sure i'm ready to go out with people yet but it's nice to be asked i guess. I don't know why but it still feels wierd being single...... but i'm quite enjoying the freedom and i'm loving my DFW adventure. Don't get me wrong it is so difficult and i have moments where i just want to buy stuff and go to the beauticians and go out for coctails and dinner - then i think what i'd really like is everything i own to be mine and not on a CC and for me to go on an amazing holiday that ive saved for not bought with someone elses money.

I can't wait till payday.....not for the pay but so i can updat e my sig block :D it won't be massive progress but it will be progress, and i'm determined today. Really determined.

    CC xx

Oh wow how exciting being asked out on a date!!! Eeeeek!!! Are you going to say yes, or are you going to leave it for now?

I too have moments where I just want to treat myself at the beauty salon & go to expensive restaurants etc. I think it's natural, especially when it's been a way of life for so long. Hang in there!!! xxx

Hi CC! Just been reading through your diary and you're doing so well!
I have all the grand intentions of eating my way through the freezer / cupboards, but OH is very much a "what do I fancy? eater", so if I get 3 pre-planned meals in a week I am doing well.

I love spreadsheets!!! There - I have said it! I am not a 'whiz' as it were, but I get by and couldn't be without them. I am more than happy to forward you a template of mine for you to play around with and get to grips with if it helps? Just PM me your email and I will forward it (this goes for anyone else reading too!)
Ps, go on the 'date'! ;O)
    start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!

    Hi CC

I've just finished reading your diary and wanted to say that I think you are doing fabulously!!!

I'll second the recommendation for YNAB, it has completely turned my finances around! Whilst I'm not in debt particularly (car loan from my dad, no interest and fixed monthly payment - I know, I'm incredibly lucky!) I don't eant particularly much and always struggled to save for the one off expenses, now I find my money goes much further!

Oh - and you can win free copies in the classes if you are lucky, or get it for about £7.50 in the steam sale!!

(I promise I'm not on commission, I just can't believe how quickly it's turned my finances around!!)

Good luck in your journey! You've definitely got this!!!

P.S. Go on the date, it's only a drink with someone you get on with, nothing more!!

  • So it's Saturday!! Guess what?? I did it - the whole week, NO GROCERY SHOPPING!! I am made up! I've eaten really well too as i was determined to use stuff up and not waste anything, so i've been eating tonnes of veggies and i've even not used anything out of the freezer so i think if i get a few fresh bits this week i can have another really low spend week i think i'm going to aim for £15. I do need a few staples (pasta & oil for a start) and i need to get some food for the pup, but im really going to try to get through the freezer!

It was a really busy week at work which helped distract me from TJ but he sent me some messages yesterday about wanting some stuff form the house, i have no idea what he thinks he has left behind as there is nothing, so i am worried he wants something that i think is mine, so i asked what stuff he wanted and he just got really angry and was quite mean. Hey Ho - can't do anything about that now can i! If he wants to be a jerk, let him! Luckily im visiting family for Mothers day so to be honest it didn't bother me that much.

Need to think of some money making schemes for this weekend now...... off to plot and will update laters xxx

Oh forgot to add - another £1 inthe emergency fund for taking my lunch in all week :D
