Orange + Magic Number = going

If you have an orange contract mobile phone, you will no doubt use their offer of a magic number, of which you are allocated one number per six months of your existing contract.
As you know, orange are now under the umbrella of EE, so:-
if you make ANY change to your orange contract whatsoever, the new contract will come under EE and as such, you LOOSE your magic numbers.
My advice therefore if you are able, is to bite the bullet and refuse to make any changes, otherwise they will be gone.
Also, even if you retain your contract and don't make a change, if any one of those people you have as a recipient of magic number calls, changes theirs, then you loose them.
To keep magic numbers, both parties MUST NOT make changes to their contracts.
Because I had been told this from son-in-law yesterday, following a visit to HIS orange shop, I checked in mine and it was confirmed.
I suppose really, if your monthly contract is in the region of shall we say £25 per month, it might be worth considering having your orange phone unlocked (but this has to be done a month before contract is due to expire I believe, but will stand corrected on this), then buy a PAYG SIM and get one that gives what you need.
I asked orange why this is being done, and was told "EE tend to concentrate more on data allowance and less on talk".

Sorry to be picky, but are you saying that if anyone is on EE, they do have a contract which allows you to use magic numbers?0 -
As there are now no Orange or tmobiles tariffs available - all changes to contracts means switching to EE - so all orange or t mobile legacy benefits will be lost.
I believe he is saying that EE offer unlimited mins at a very reasonable price. (i.e. £15.99 a month)0 -
sorry to confuse you yes i meant u can get an unlimited tariff which means you dont need a magic numberWhat goes around-comes around0

and having had a look at my account, I had forgotten to say, even though I'm on orange, that mine is a sim only account (don't know what difference that is) and I get 500mins (of which I don't use half), 500 texts (of which I don't use a quarter) and 100mb (and don't use any). Couldn't get into the page I wanted, but saw my last bill was £13.27 but it's usually under £10.0
