Offers no longer coming off reduced prices at my local Waitrose either. I don't think they have ful thought it through, since it means that a lot of reduced stuff was dearer than buying the full priced in date items.0

Didn't work for me in Harborne yesterday. I'm really cross, as I spend a lot in Waitrose and can save lots by buying things on their date. I thing this should still apply, as you said i'm not going to buy much on it's sell by date now!
As lots of other people have said, I won't bother to do much shopping at waitrose now, Aldi for me!0 -

The difference between Aldi and Waitrose (two extremes) is pretty remarkable - around half the price in Aldi for much the same overall trolley-load. Much the same quality too, even on the meat, though Waitrose does have the edge on fruit and veg - though it should have at twice the price.0 -
Can't vouch for Morrisons as there isn't one near me, but Tesco don't take off the multi-buys or anything else, if a product is reduced that is the price you pay and no lower.
It worked in Tesco's for us today. Packs of chicken breast portions were in the reduced at £3 a pack instead of £4. We bought 3 packs, which would have gone through the tills as 3 for £10 deal if they hadn't been reduced, but they came through as £7 (3 x £3 minus £2 for the deal discount).0 -
If food was discounted in Waitrose, and was on a deal such as 2 for £5 you used to get the discount and the deal.
I noticed on my bill yesterday that it no longer does both offers, it just recalculates the discount so that my sausages were still 2 for £5, rather than including the extra 50p off for them being about to go out of date.
Had I realised the change, as I was needing 2 packs I would have bought the fresher full price ones and it would have still cost me £5.
Very clever of waitrose, they still get the same money in their till for the old going out of date food as they do for the fresh long shelf life food!0 -
I'd just like to add that the coffee is no longer 'free' from the self serve tills, you have to buy something in store first, then show your till receipt at the machine in order to get a cup. (Waitrose, South Wales).June 2009 - Wii; December 2009 - Fortnum & Mason Hamper; 2009 - Little Red Tractor DVD; How to afford time off work book; April 2010 - Mamas & Papas Pram; May 2010 - Imperial Leather Goodies; Jan 2011 - Trivial Pursuit cards; Narnia goodies; VTech cot mobile (stopped comping!) Nov 2011 - Kiddicare cotbed.0

You need to go the tills "buy" coffee/tea and show your my Waitrose card. It is still free. They just changed it to avoid people using free coffee offer without having a card.ally.0 -

They haven't done so for years.
My local Morrisons does, even though they have words to the effect of "this item is not included in any multi buy offer" printed on the reduced label.
Recently they have changed from taking the full amount off to just the reduced amount if it is less than the full amount.
For example, tonight I bought 2 packs of hot dog buns from the bakery that were reduced from £1 to 9p. They had a "buy two for £1.50" sticker on them.
Up until recently they would have deducted 50p from the final total, but now they just deduct 18p, because that is what I paid for the items.
They have set the tills to take off the offer reduction, but NOT deduct more than you are paying for the item.
Which meant I got the two items free, but did not get the other 32p off my other items.0
