House of Fraser GiftCard - Expired & Push-Off

  • I totally agree, I have the exact same thing, found wedding gift card that has expired.

FIrstly, there probably is an argument that it isn't made clear before purchase that there is an expiry date as the T&Cs are given afterwards (i.e. your PPI argument).

Secondly, it just seems plain wrong for it to expire - it should be the same as cash. In fact, you're better off just giving cash to people. Someone like house of fraser in business since 1849 is hardly going to have a problem giving a 10 year expiry date...!

    Absolutely right.

Would we then see threads that start "I have discovered this HoF gift card that I was given at my wedding 11 years ago..."?

    ;)
  • Another point to remember is that if it was ever determined that the gift card was mis-sold and that no information regarding the expiry date was given, you still wouldn't have any right to a refund or replacement card.

This is because any legal rights are normally only between the retailer and the original purchaser of the goods.
  • How did you ask? Instore?

I have had success with an expired gift card by using the "contact us" option on their website (Showcase Cinema).

You could ask on their Twitter/Facebook account, keeping it polite and complimentary.
  • Something I've just noticed that I didn't see when I made my earlier post.

The Op originally posted back at the beginning of March so one way or another I would think that it's been sorted or they have given up.
