House of Fraser GiftCard - Expired & Push-Off

Hi all,
I recently moved house and in going through some stuff I came across my wedding box and located a House of Fraser Gift Card that we received when I got married 3 years ago.
I enquired with House of Fraser and they have told me that the card has expired.
I asked them if they could do anything (twice) and they've said no.
In one of the responses, when I asked what happens to the funds on the card they just said they "disappear"
Their official line is that they expire after 2 years from when purchased.
Can I do anything further?

Hi
In a word no {see link below}. It is the problem when people have these cards and do not read t&c's. I am sorry but the money has been lost

The above is correct. Whether it is fair is another matter ... but I don't think anyone has ever tried pursuing a claim against a retailer, citing the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contract Regulations.0

PPI was (usually) made very clear when taking it out. Didn't stop that becoming a "scandal" though, did it?

Pointless post is pointless.
You know absolutely that this was NOT what was stated or implied.0 -

The option to reclaim thousands does make peoples memory very fussy about actually having discussed PPI or having actually actively chosen to have it.
That said, there were some terrible practices going on. Ex used to handle PPI policy claims (not miss selling claims) and had several cases where the bank, sister company, had given a loan, sold the PPI to someone with a terminal illness and given them the claim form on the same day as the money to get it written off under the PPI policy.
That aside though, 3 years is a reasonable period to spend it, I doubt there is anything unclear on it about the expiry. Next, the OP doesnt actually have a contract to with HoF to claim its an unfair contract clause as they didnt actually buy the thing themselves.
As the gift card remains a liability on the companies balance sheet its inevitable they dont want it sitting there forever0 -
I don't disagree ... I was simply offering an alternative argument.
