About 3 years ago I paid a great deal of money for Clone DVD. I've now got a new PC and wish to install it. My problem is I no longer have the installer I downloaded at the time as I was told my purchase would cover upgrades in the future. I installed the new version which I thought should be ok only to be told I have typed the wrong key code in. I contacted Clone DVD and they said I needed to tell them what date I purchsed it on, My Email address, and the billing information I was sent at the time I bought it. I still have the old key code but I was told this wasn't any use to them. I no longer have the billing information but can tell them my email and date I bought it. Has anyone else had this same problem from Clone DVD? Is there anything else that i can use for backing up my DVD movies that doesn't cost the earth. Hope it's ok to post about Clone DVD in this section?

Just buy a new version, it's not expensive is it against what you're saving.

Alcohol 120% and Nero are both viable alternatives. I use CloneDVD for its movie interface - able to pick and choose what parts I want on the clone (including subtitles and audio options), there isn't anything else that I know of that can match that functionality. Alcohol 120% can break down images into parts but its not quite the same (it also has the handy ability of making a hard disk image of any dvd/cd you want).
If you need CloneDVD you might as well get the bundle with AnyDVD - since that makes any dvd you play or burn region free, it also saves you some moneyFaith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -

He could but that's not the point - if it said that future upgrades are free, he shouldn't have to buy another licence. They really should have a database of their customers' names.
I bought a software licence for an mp3 ripper ages ago, every now and then the developer changes the key arithmethic (or whatever it's called). Whenever I have to re-install the software and my key isn't working any more, all I have to do is to email ('cause it changes every now and then, too) him with my name and I get the latest key right away. No hassle there.0 -
Thanks for the advice and support. I won't be buying from them again i'll be checking out other versions.Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best
