Clueless on how to proceed : S

Here's my story in a nutshell (yes I did read the Newbie thread, all of it, as this is the first time I had something like this, I'm usually really careful with parking):

a) Received PCN by post (they said I had a windscreen one too, well I never found it) for an alleged violation at a Curry's store

b) Between the alleged violation and receiving the first letter, I was hospitalised for an operation (thus I didn't see the first letter until very much later on)

c) Due to the delay caused by the hospitalisation, I received a letter from Dara Debt Recovery, asking me for money. When I looked at their 1990s website (daradr DOT co DOT uk) I genuinely thought it was fake (seriously you call that a website?). I thought it was a scam, because I had never received a PCN on my car and I thought the posted PCN was part of the scam.

d) Dara kept on sending me letters and I've ignored them thinking they're a scam.

e) Then someone by the name of LJB Legal Services sent me a "Letter before action" letter.

f) Started googling and followed moneysavingsexpert flowchart. But both JAS and Dara got back to me saying that:

Our charges and contract are checked by the BPA every year during our audits, the charges are within what is deemed reasonable by the BPA. Our charges are also fully displayed on our sign boards, if you did not want to comply with them or pay the charges that comes with breaching the terms and conditions you were not obligated to park in the car park

and

Unfortunately for you the time for you to appeal this parking charge notice debt has now passed, you had 28 day to appeal from when you first received the parking charge notice on your vehicle and then you had another 28 days from the issue date of your first PDC letter.

g) I've insisted over and over again on opening a POPLA case but still got the same reply from JAS and Dara. Now I'm absolutely clueless about what to do next : (

I genuinely feel threatened by these guys. I've never had even an inch of trouble in my life with authorities. So I feel disgusted to be picked on. I think we all have far better things to do then to waste our time fighting these bullies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

JAS and Dara are the same thick idiot, Jehanzaib Arshad Dara. As for LJB Legal services, there appears to be an outfit of that name in Ohio, USA, but the one that has written to you would appear to be just another figment of Dara's fertile imagination.

He really is incompetent and clueless. Ignore him. But do complain long and loud to Currys.

  • Thanks for your suggestions. This is their latest correspondence.

You were then send a letter dated DD/MM/YY which again gave you 28 days to submit an appeal, and again you failed to do this, therefore an appeal will not be accepted and a POPLA code will not issued, if you check the BPA’s code of practice we are right to do this.

Do I just sit and wait or should I explain what the situation was as per my thread? I.e hospitalised, then originally thought it was a scam...

    Thanks again.

p.s Can I disregard their email based on poor English grammar. You were then SENT not send : )

What part of "ignore him" are you having trouble with?

check the latest parking prankster blog on this fool and his machinations with an excel spreadsheet where the total always has to add up to £94

IGNORE is a smaller word than Clueless, with better connotations

just stick your fingers in your ears and sing LA LA LA loudly when the letters arrive (unless it was a proper LBC or an MCOL)

This is exactly what I'm worried about. Their last letter, from JBL Legal Services was a "Letter Before Action/Claim". However, nowhere I can find a website for this company, and the domain @ljblegal.co.uk is actually owned by VistaPrint : S

Again, apologies for sounding too naïve, I just don't want to get in trouble. But advice taken (i.e ignore them). Thanks again for the help.

well if it is a letter before action , they will send papers direct from Northampton , however I bet it reads "we may suggest court action to our client"

JBL legal services don,t own the alleged debt , and cannot bring a claim

is there a company registration / vat number etc on the bog roll you got from JBL,
  • Nope, no address either. Just a pic of a justice balance with the following email address underneath it:

lbarnes AT ljblegal DOT co DOT uk

I emailed them a couple of times but no replies. When I checked who owns the domain it says VistaPrint Technologies, which I'm sure have nothing to do with this.

If this supposedly law firm is bogus, wouldn't that constitute a crime? I wish I knew more about how the law works (or it doesn't!)

p.s I can take a pic of letter once I get home from work. Thanks again.

Whilst it doesn't change any of the advice (ignore), is it JBL Legal or LJB Legal?
