Bought something, but not yet received

Hiya

I am wondering if you can help.

On the 24th we BIN a camera. We paid immediately. Same evening, seller acknowledge receipt of 'speedy payment' and said in email that they would post in the next couple of days. Seller has same feedback as us (70s) and is 100%. There is nothing more listed for this seller, and only feedback since our purchase was for something bought a few days before we bought ours.

On the 1st and 2nd, we sent emails to seller stating that item not received - can they provide info, but to date no response has been received.

I have checked paypal (as that is how we paid), and it has details of delivery - says posted by first class recorded, but I don't know when that was put there (haven't ever noticed it before, and really had no reason to notice it either).

Now, even if that was put yesterday, surely item should have been delivered by RM by now ?

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. We have a deadline of next Friday to get this item (or get another one), and the seller hasn't responded to our 2 emails either.

What should I do ?

Maybe the seller is having a few days off. I do when there is a strike. I guess you are just going to have to wait the same as a lot of my customers. Read the post about the postage strike. Mine was off 3 days last week - no collections - so things are taking anything up to 2 weeks to arrive. I guess it just depends on what it is like in your area. Sorry, it's not much help, but if the seller wants to make the most of the strike and have some time off he can. if he has posted it he can't do anything else and neither you can you, other than wait until the time is up. Sadly, if you needed it urgently you should have paid for Special Delivery as these are being given priority but as you can read from the Postage Strike post - even those are taking 4 or 5 days. Don't blame you seller because of the strikes, it is not his fault.

I just read they have nothing else listed - maybe they sold it, posted it and then went off on holiday. if the details of it being posted are on Paypal they probably used Paypal for printing out the postage label - you can't really fake that but you'll just have to wait like the rest of us. That is the way it is at the moment I am afraid.

Despatch method says: RM First Class Recorded (Signed For)™ (Next working day). So surely, it should be here.

And we have been receiving mail everyday, so strike doesn't seem to be affecting us. I will look at the other thread about strikes. Ta

download msgtag from www.msgtag.com install it, then send the seller another email, You will receive a msgtag notification when the seller has opened your email, (It will have the time they opened the email too and tell the seller that the message has been tagged, which might kick them into replying to you). This will at least tell you that they are receiving your emails.

Yes, it should be there - but the mail is not being sorted at night and this is why there are delays. you might be getting mail but you are not getting it all. I think the person you need to complain to is the RM, the seller has probably gone off on holiday so you might need to consider this as well.

I sent something Special Delivery and they can't even tell me if it is being collected from the Post Office on that day. it might say Next Day but 90% is not arriving next day. You might also want to check the sorting office, if the postie has been on strike and it has been set aside then he might have left it there and forgotten it thinking he had tried to deliver it and left a card. Long shot but it is worth a try isn't it if you cannot contact the seller. They don't have to sit by their PC's waiting for people to email them - most people have a life as well. This is the kids holidays and the sun is out, people are probably making the most of it. If the buyer has posted it he has posted it. Recorded Delivery is NOT guarenteed for next day - the only service to offer you this is Special Delivery - and even they are taking 3 days at times.

The postmen can only deliver the mail that is given to them to sort, if all the mail is not sorted then it is not there for the postman to deliver - he can take what he has but they reckon that millions of letters and parcels are backlogged at sorting offices.

Okay, we are just going to have to wait.

DH is all for going and buying another one, but we would probably have the same problem, just a different seller.

    Cheers for now.

No, make sure you get their to either courier it (Parcel2Go or something, they are here next day - it costs more but if you need it then it is wort h paying the extra money) or make sure you ask for the buyer to send it Special Delivery. I have been turning custoers away when they are asking, can you be sure it'll be here by XX date I have to tell them no, because I can't, not even with Special Delivery. It is crippling all of us, and for the most of us small business sellers this is not a good time as far as the post goes. I took some Special Delivery in yesterday and the postmaster could not even tell me if they were going to be collected that day - if it goes today (Friday) it is not guanreteed until monday - if they are not striking - and the customer paid me Tuesday night. As we had no collection either on Wednesday that is nearly a weeks wait for the customer to have to wait for something sent Special Delivery - and we have to pay extra for that so called Premium Service.

I received 2 items today that I bought last weekend - both were sent 1st class recorded delivery on Monday - there are a lot of local postal strikes atm, even though you have received mail and dont know of any in your area, the seller may be suffering from the strikes. If you have the paypal detls of the payment, then you know when it was sent (has to be sent by the end of the following day the label was created) but I'm afraid you do need to sit it out.

Please don't mistake recorded for an expediated service. It is just basic post that requires a signature, so will sit in a post bag with all the other delayed items until such time the Postmen are able to deliver it.

Regardless of what paypal and RM says, recorded is NOT a guaranteed service. However, just in case something strange has happened, email the seller agai and just ask whether you can have the tracking number..putting that into the trace on the RM site should show 'come back later' if item is still en route, or 'delivered' if the postie has had someone else sign for it.

There is a backlog of 200 millions items of mail, It will only get worse due to the chairmen of Royal Mail ignoring the staff and customers.
