Check to see you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader, which currently is v8.1
I'm not surprised if you noticed your computer slowing down after installing Acrobat Reader, especially if you have an older system. Acrobat Reader 8.1 takes up over 150+MB of HD space which makes it extreme bloatware (why does a relatively simple program like a PDF reader need to take up over 150+MB in HDD space, Adobe?)
I would ditch it and download Foxit Reader which is free to use and much, much smaller in size than Acrobat Reader - besides it does everything Acrobat Reader does except without the fancy and pointless GUI.
Like the other posters have said, run the "issues" tab on Ccleaner to clean up your registry, and if you do decide to keep Acrobat Reader run a system defrag (Start/Accessories/System Tools) to get your hard disk back into some sort of reasonable order.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

How do I get rid of this program?0 -
Adobe have well and truly messed up the v8 set of releases for the Acrobat product and there are a lot of angry users. This has been discussed and rehashed until it's practically a mantra over on the Adobe forums. They messed up the activation process so that even paid users couldn't activate ad use their product, they hadn't released a fix the last time I checked and even the developers were just saying "Oh well, wait until v9". Needless to say this hasn't gone down well and a lot of people are going with v7 for now. Which is a shame as v8 was faster at converting documents and did a better job than v7.
