But on a £500 banger you wouldn't fit a new one, you'd go to a scrappy and get one for maybe a tenner...this is MSE after all, and Micra's are ubiquitous.
For something like a cable, it may be too much work to remove for the sake of £20-£40 for a new one, assuming the used one isn't rusty or broken itself.
Do people even go to a scrappy now for secondhand bits, though the E-Bay was the place to go....10 seconds and here's a cable, delivered for £14.50...no idea if its the correct one though.
