Maximum I would think is 3 hours @ £75 an hour plus parts.

Call up a Nissan dealer and ask for a quote.

I do not know, you asked for the maximum it would cost.

I would of though that the cable, if it is broken, would be £20-£40 and anywhere between 1-3 hours to fit.

If it were my car I would fit it myself for free and just buy the part. No idea how to open a Micra bonnet without breaking the grill though, but it would be totally possible I would say after getting it up on a ramp.

I would of thought so yes.

Who has been servicing it for you? You could ask them for a quote.

Unfortunately I have only ever fitted a brand new radiator for a 2002 Micra for a guy at work. It was like £30 and I fitted it within 20 minutes and he bought me 24 cans of diet coke.

Not what you need to here but you get the idea, parts for these cars are quite cheap.

When you pull on the lever is there any resistance? If so then it may well not be the cable snapped. Get a friend to put a little pressure on the bonnet while you pull the lever, this sometimes releases enough pressure to open it.

If you do get it open then use plenty of lubricant and work the levers etc BEFORE you shut it again.

My mothers Corsa bonnet release cable has stretched somewhat and you have to pull it right to it's maximum and even then it doesn't always open, a bit of pulling whilst somebody gently lifts and presses on the bonnet seems to help persuade it to open.

Which reminds me, must get that fixed.

Hi, take it to the garage they will open it for you. Then they will give you a quote.

When bonnet on my car was broken mechanics opened it in 5 mins.
one was pulling the lever inside car while other was wobbling bonnet to release the catch. Then you can ask what needs to be done. Phone first to check if they give free quotations.

But on a £500 banger you wouldn't fit a new one, you'd go to a scrappy and get one for maybe a tenner...this is MSE after all, and Micra's are ubiquitous.
