Orange Animal Plans Data Allowance
I have been with orange for 15+ years, at the moment I’m on panther26 package (pay £23.32 per month) – the contract is due to end on 4th March . I switched to this contract 18 months ago and got an xperia SP phone with the contract.
I've always been a little confused about the data usage for this package. When I log onto my account there is never any information regarding my data allowance and usage, when I click on remaining allowance it only shows my minutes remaining. Does this mean my data allowance is unlimited?
When I first switched to the package I thought the letter I got said my data allowance would be 500mb. I have since gone over this amount numerous times, last month I used 3GB but have never been charged for any internet. I've been looking at my itemised bills (I've never took any notice of the detail before) each bill does say how much data has been used for that month but there is never any charge for it, I've also noticed under service plans it says blackberry internet – I've not got a blackberry, is this also connected to my data allowance?
I’m very confused about the situation and am reluctant to phone orange customer services in case they find a mistake has been made on my account and they charge me for months used. I’m now coming to the end of my contract and am unsure what to do.
Has anyone else been on a panther contract? What is the data allowance? What happens if you go over? Did your account show your current data usage/allowance?
I've searched this subject on Google but can’t find anyone in the same situation as me. I’m hoping someone can shed some light on it for me.
Thanks

I'm guessing you're is the £26 plan discounted, or the £20.50 plan with extra for the handset. So data allowance is between 500MB and 750MB per month.
It may well be that they're not looking too closely at the Animal plans and their usage - as far as I'm aware they've withdrawn these plans anyway.0 -
Thanks for your reply
I was on the £26 discounted plan, guess I was surprised that they didn't slap me with charges for going over the allowance.
I know orange are notorious for charging people as soon as they use out of plan data, I’m surprised they are allowing me to use 2-3GB every other month with no repercussions.
I’m aware the plans have now been withdrawn, what happens when I come to the end of my contract – do they keep me on that plan even if its no longer available? Will they suddenly start charging me extra for any out of plan data I’m using?0 -
Your contract never ends, you just come to the end of your minimum term. Do nothing and it continues as before until you give 30 days notice. At £26pm, that'll suit Horange very nicely with the handset paid for. So upgrade or switch to a SIM only contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

similiar thing has just happened to me
I had £3 credit left on an orange PAYG SIM (racoon tariff) so I bought a 500mb data for 7 days extra
I was surprised to find that so far there does not appear to be any limit at all to the amount of data you can use - Ive used about 2GB so far at a guess maybe more - Ive stopped using the data now just in case the data overage backfires on me
It makes me slightly nervous because the standard rate is 65p per mb but given its a PAYG sim I cant see how they could come back later & try to charge me when its a PAYG SIM that should just stop working when there is no credit or extra available
also when I look at my usage online it shows cost of data = zero so I think im fairly safe
EDIT : allowance did actually run out at around the 3GB mark - not bad for £3 - possibly just delayed usage reporting perhaps ?0
