Monday 2 March - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Morning DFW-Jedis,
Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.
Today is a day off and I need to go to town.
The List:
:starmod: [STRIKE]Check online banking and reconcile monies.[/STRIKE]
:starmod: [STRIKE]Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight. [/STRIKE]
:starmod: [STRIKE]Take water into town 1 so I don't want to buy a drink.[/STRIKE]
:starmod: [STRIKE]Make use of "free" NHS. Routine blood test. Sign up for online prescription ordering to save precious time ordering by phone.
[/STRIKE]
:starmod: [STRIKE]Accompany OH on a bit of light grocery shopping. Stick to the list. Buy cheapest wrapping paper.
[/STRIKE] Did buy some things not on the list but they were very cheap. Also impulse bought a teeny weeny saucepan for poaching eggs in as OH uses a medium sized one and then spends loads of time and cleaning paste getting it clean again.
:starmod: Trip to town 2 later to the cinema taking own "contraband" sweeties and drinks. Use 2-for-1 offer in local paper. Bought very cheap sweeties and two cans of drink all for £1. Still have to get paper as it wasn't out yet.
:starmod: [STRIKE]Post parcel to US having shopped around for cheapest price.[/STRIKE] Didn't buy sweeties or pharmaceuticals in the Post Office-Chemist.
That's all for now. May be back later.. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Good morning all
Well I am pleased with money saving already today. I couldn't sleep last night so went onto the Internet to look for cheap cash tills as mine was stolen in the break in. I sourced 2 one for £20 it's fine, will do the job. Anyway woke up to an email from the lady selling it saying it's still available and if I send £10 for postage it's mine. So hopefully can sort that today.
Also in other good news, I used to take card transactions using streamline which charged me a lot each month. When we had to close up I was still paying them from August to January around £50 a month AND they charged me an £80 fee to leave them. The new company I've sourced offer a free terminal, no contract & no tie in period. I am going to sign up today. This is the system that was used at the place I had my part time job so I know it's a good system.
So 2 good things before 9am
Have the guy coming to finish servicing my coffee machine this morning so I'd better get up and going.
Have a good day all.

Hi dotty and welcome
I actually didn't have one and asked my friend to take lots of photos, then got a friend to edit them. I was really lucky as I got lots of beautiful photos. However I was adamant that I wasn't going to pose for one picture :-D
A good thing to do is ask your facebook friends. Recommendations or if they know anyone doing a course at the moment, newly starting off etc etc

We had a talented friend do ours for nothing. If you ask a student ask to see examples of their photos first to check what style they work in.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Afternoon all

Well done on sourcing a shop till for £20 Bob, that is incredibly cheap :T
Good luck with making your arrangements to return to work Jojo. I remember how daunting it is when you have been out for a while -but you will get there
What line of work are you in?
So far today I have:
Cut up moisturiser tube to get the last bits out. There will be enough now for a few more days before I have to start a new one
Checked banks
Heating off, though I will light the woodburner later
Been to the solicitor's office with OH and we have finalised and signed our wills. Something else I have been putting off doing now done :T
Popped into sales unit and collected cheque for February's sales
Oops bought a Radley bag from one of the other dealers while I was in there
I do have a weakness for bags - they always fit :rotfl: I never buy them new though, and if I get fed up with them I will sell them on. This one cost £13.50 and looks unused
Paid cheque into bank as I was passing
Avoided buying any food as I have plenty in
And we walked into town to save fuel
- and also save getting caught in the never ending road works
Still to do:
Some housework - the sun streaming in through the windows shows up the dirt on the wooden floors
Most of the time I get away with just hoovering, but it really needs a proper clean now. Bathroom floor needs doing too. Done
Put a pile of books that neither Amazon nor Webuybooks want on freecycle. Done
Look out for freecycler coming to collect another item
Collected now
Sow some tomato seeds as I never see plants of the variety I like for sale Oops haven't got to this
Make a fish curry recipe from the Hairy Bikers' curry book for supper. I have got rid of loads of cookery books, and only kept the ones I really appreciate and use. I am determined to cook something different at least once a week rather than sticking to the same old things. Done, it was nice - not the best meal ever but tasty enough
Hope everyone is having a good day
