Foreign money changed for free?

Can i possibly get foreign money in the UK without someone trying to charge me a percentage on it? I am after Danish Krones and my bank says they will charge a percentage plus a flat rate if i draw out money from cash machines in Denmark.

I want to avoid this robbery, can i get free exchange here in the UK? Preferably face to face in a shop and not online?

Avoid the charges by getting your money from an ATM in Denmark using one of the MSE recommended cards.

No i do not want cards i would be rejected at the first application stage and i do not trust those cards, i like cash in hand then theres no middle man.

What if i draw out my cash in the UK, then get to Denmark and go to the bank there, would they change pounds for Kroner for free?

Nobody changes money for free. If they say it is commission free then they get you with a poor exchange rate. Read the MSE guide.

Ask someone to refer you and get a £5 rebate.

Use it for your spends in Denmark in order to get the real fee free experience. Currently around 10.29 Kr to the £. If you use it at the ATM, take out as large a chunk as you may need for the trip, as there is a charge of £2.25 for ATM withdrawals. No forex charges whatsoever.

    Not always true.

    OP are you in/near London?

I always use https://www.bestforeignexchange.com They give excellent rates and no commission. I can't comment on their delivery service though because I always collect it.

Please use official MSE comparison website for foreign money:

    http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/

My tip: seems that exchange offices in airport have realised that many people avoid them so they have embraced the power of internet and offer a very good rate IF you book online beforehand!
Last time I picked my euros in Gatwick from Moneycorp and was extremely happy with their rate! In fact, if I wanted to make a special journey to get a better rate I would've been worse off!

Don't be dopey....forget about the bank. Take the advice given here. Order online and collect or take the right plastic.
If you decide to take cash, what will you done with left over Kroner?
