One very NON-frugal thing we did today was buy 2 weekend festival tickets, but we bought them early to get the cheapest price & I have budgeted for them.

    I am officially envious.

I've just found out that two acts I'd love to see (Llbertines and Frank Turner) are both playing on the Sunday at Reading Festival.

DS is going for the whole weekend (ticket bought and paid for already for his 18th birthday present) and we'll have to drive down on the Monday to bring him back so it would *kind* of make sense if we went on the Sunday and then we could bring him back with us. You can see where I'm headed with this, can't you...? :rotfl:

    Evening DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.

Today is a work day so my list isn't very big.

    The List:

:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies.

:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:starmod: Take a packed lunch to work.

:starmod: Read the meters. We used more gas and electricity this month as OH was unwell but we're still in credit so this is good news.

:starmod: Converted some Winter trousers into Summer ones to wear at work where it's quite warm. Just removed the inner lining with very sharp fabric scissors.

:starmod: Stay away from vending machines at work, except the free beverage machines! Tried the free soup. It was a bit random but filled a hole.

:starmod: Use free company WiFi in the canteen.

    :starmod: Dinner was homemade KFC.

That's all, I'm afraid. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

    Morning DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.

My "weekend" starts today so I'm planning on making the most of it as cheaply as possible. Once we can decide what we'd like to do. The weather is going to be atrocious so it won't be gardening! Got free sellotape from RoyalMail Surveys yesterday which will come in handy to wrap OH's birthday gifts.

    The List:

:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies.

:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:starmod: Do Royal Mail and iSay Surveys.

:starmod: Possibly go for a swim for some cheap exercise if the coast road is drivable. It's right on the edge of the sea and sometimes you can't get down it without a snorkel! :rotfl:

:starmod: Buy inexpensive giftwrap or perhaps make some if I'm feeling crafty.

:starmod: Make a decorative sign for the bathroom door.

:starmod: Enjoy the extractor fan doodah the housing association fitted during the week. No more condensation! This also means less time mopping up condensation and fewer cleaning cloths requiring to be laundered. :D

:starmod: Find a bathroom wallpaper we would like to buy when we have some "spare" cash. Been dithering for ages over this. Time to decide.

:starmod: Check how much broadband we've used. We used too much last month. As we live remotely we have a choice of about three suppliers. The one we have is £18/month but limited. If we wanted unlimited it'd cost us at least £30/month, which we can't afford, so limited broadband it is. :A

That's me! Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

MSE has decided my post it too long again. Grr.

    The List 2:

:starmod: Check balance on Tesco clubcard. (Link)

:starmod: Check balance on Nectar Points (Link)

    :starmod: Check eBay sellings.

:starmod: Treat end of my cold with natural remedies from the kitchen.

:starmod: Clean the house with Stardrops and washable cloths.

:starmod: Do own manicure and pedicure.

Sneaking in while I've got a minute...

Dad is still in hospital, the infection seems to be clearing, just praying it clears enough for him to avoid surgery later in the week...that is under discussion. And thank goodness for DS2's friends and GF...they have been totally amazing with all the support they are giving and all they are doing. My faith in the young has been restored.

Will be going to the hossie later, DS2's friend is running me down there. Leaving DS1 to do the cooking and stuff here, he will do the visiting tomorrow.

    So today's list

    Check one poll, etc
    Washer set for overnight wash
Breakfast from cupboard, unsure about lunch yet and DS1 doing something Mexican for dinner.
    Change cat litters
    DS1 will hoover
    Hossie visit

That's about it for today, I think. Might be an NSD, dependant on lunch and whether dad needs anything buying.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Milliemummy -Glad to hear things are a little more positive for your dad. Really hope he doesn't have to have surgery.

    Morning All
Not a bad DFW weekend so far. Husband worked on the shop all day yesterday so I took our son to his dance class which involves a bit of a journey now we are car free. Took lunches with us and drinks. On route we popped into sons bank and paid in £5 of his pocket money. The bank staff are always so nice to him and the free biscuits are always popular too.
Once son was safely in his class I used 30 mins of the hour to go over to Waitrose as we needed a few bits to go with dinner. I stuck to their essentials range and the cost for kidney beans, tinned toms, garlic bread etc is barely higher than Mr T's plus I got a bargain pack of dips which were YS and saved me loads buying individual sour cream, guacamole, & salsa. Whilst there made use of the free coffee.
Didn't need anything else yesterday so we came home and had a nice chilli for dinner & watched one of the free dvds we'd picked up from the library which was Malifecent quite good if you've not watched it. Oh and rounded off the night once son was asleep watching free Netflix.
Today I think we'll have a lazy day maybe a walk and a roast at home.
