When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

We took a trip to Mr S this lunchtime as it's my step-daughter's birthday this weekend, DH is giving her money but we wanted to buy just a token present to go with it and settled on a selfie stick which is right up her street :rotfl:
I've been keeping my eye out for something that is a nice present but is also bargainous for our nephew's forthcoming first birthday and spotted the kind of present I would have liked to buy if money were no object. It didn't have a price so I took it to the checkout just in case it was half price (they're currently £15 at Mr T) and it went through the till at £4.50, I nearly fell over! So we have a really nice present for even less than what I had budgeted for
Mr S still have their Chinese NY deal on (4 mains and 2 sides for £10) so we have £10 worth and won't be tempted to buy a takeaway tonight. We plan on staying home tonight and then tomorrow afternoon we're all off to MIL's for birthday cake (and her usual selection of lukewarm sausage rolls and odd combination sandwiches  ) We've planned for eggs on toast for breakfast as BIL and SIL are usually late and we'll be sat there starving and parched waiting for them to turn up.
Mr S have a great deal on cat food but the shelf was empty so I'll place an order from Mr T instead who have a good deal too that's just about to end. I was planning on stocking up a good few weeks worth but it looks like the Mr S one has only just started so I'll buy just enough for the deal to kick in and revisit Mr S after payday.
I've just finished a really good book (Kate Atkinson - One Good Turn) and am kicking myself for rushing the end, I hate it when I do that, I wish I had the patience to savour it but I have a small pile of books in my bedside table so plan on starting another.
I hope you're all having a good weekend instead of posting on t'internet!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Good Afternoon All
FatVonD - Thanks for starting us off, wonder where everyone is?
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Just been out for a lovely meal and catch up with OH's family - we don't all live in the same towns and so it was lovely to all meet up, 9 adults and 3 children - lots of love, laughter and chatter and we all say after we should do it more often, so here's hoping this is the year we do. Stepdaughter will be down soon to drop dog off for us to look after for a few days while she is working (intensive care nurse). Feeling really tired so not much planned but I will:

Hey all,
Happy Saturday :j
Hubby had opticians this morning for check up, had a voucher for £5 sight test but was actually free as he is diabetic. Did cost us £90 for new glasses but this was a planned expense.
Printed off sunperks malteaser bunny voucher and whilst hubby was doing the above the kids and I walked to Mr T's to get it, decided to get one each so 1 free & 3 for £1.20 but the free one wouldn't scan through and eventually when they've sorted it I've only paid £1!! :j This is our treat whilst watching a film with the kids at home tonight.
Then straight home (rejected hubby's offer of a cuppa in town :T)
All meals from stores. Made a pineapple cake (recipe from o/s) and as the oven was on decided to make some cheese scones too.
We couldn't make use of the sun perks cinema tickets for kids club today so gave them to my sister.
Still to do
check TCB
sort out purse/bag for a loose change hunt.Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -
Hello Frugal Friends,
Only just got my bum in a chair......Mr f's cooking night so that's where it's staying!
One very NON-frugal thing we did today was buy 2 weekend festival tickets, but we bought them early to get the cheapest price & I have budgeted for them.
*Grocery shopping just about on budget this week, would have been under but it's Fairtrade Fortnight which meant Co-op had one of my favourite wines on offer.
*Bought a few bits for myself in town, but all from my Personal Spends' budget so guilt-free. Superdrug had their Cleanse & Polish on offer. I like the Liz Earle one but my budget doesn't run to using it regularly these days. The Superdrug one was less than £3 today & I think it's really good.
*Free tasters of Fairtrade chocolate & orange juice in the Co-op, free draw entry to win a hamper & I won a bar of chocolate in a little dice-throwing comp they were doing.
*Did some cooking ready for visitors tomorrow. Made stuffing, prepped the base & top for rhubarb crumble & baked Mary Berry's muesli cookies.
*Took bunch of sage down from kitchen beam & crumbled it into herb jar. I like growing herbs & drying them for winter.
*De-cluttered today's 28 items.....+ 2 others which I just happened to see. That's it! I've stuck with the Minsgame Challenge all month, have got rid of loads of stuff & really enjoyed doing it.
*Two of my de-cluttered vintage eBay items sold this morning.
Have a great weekend, all,
