I was under the impression that the barcode is scanned and the price comes up on the till and that they are set by a central computer. I was told in my local Tesco when I had something come up with an incorrect price that I had to go to customer services because they couldn't alter prices on the tills.
Sorry, clearly I was wrong.
what they probably meant was they didnt want the hassle of fixing it themselves.
What do they do at a store that doesnt have a Customer Service desk ? - they fix it by doing a correction/price override at the till.0 -

Very True, That is probably exactly what they meant.
I wouldn't know about a store that doesn't have a customer service desk as I have never been to a Tesco that doesn't have one.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. A superviser usually has a pin number they can input to override a price charged at a EPOS till. This is so that if you see something marked at 70p say but the system tries to charge you 75p then it can be corrected at the til. Otherwise you can go to customer service who can refund the 5p using a similar proceedure.
IMO Tesco have failed to deliver as advertised and so should make a gesture of goodwill.
I had a similar complaint a few years ago which wasn't resolved so I went to the manager and I said:
Guess what happened next!
If it was me dealing with your complaint I would be tempted to give you directions to Asda and send you on your way!
What did happen?0
