Primers used for plastered walls?

    I'm just going through this process myself, having had two rooms skimmed. My plasterer suggested buying cheap matt white emulsion and doing one coat with that. He said that there was no need to thin it down if it was cheap stuff!
    I got some matt from Focus 10L for £9, I think. I've only actually put it on part of a wall where I've got my tester patchwork-effect at the moment. It's quite thick to go on (with a brush: I'll move to a roller for the actual coat).

    Would I be better thinning it down, or not?
