Why are you surprised at paying £115 per month particularly if you were paying the far too low £45 per month? £45 is not a realistic sum for an all-electric flat especially where you are paying a premium for E7 day rates which you are using for heating.

If you live in such isolation that you have no friends despite attending University then there are far more serious issues than your utility bills that you have to address.

Find a bill from as long ago as you have and compare the readings then with a recent reading. Find out your typical usage and use that to ascertain your spend.

But if you are using radiators rather than E7 storage your bills are not going to bubble back down to £45 - budget for at least £80 or 90 once the £115 pays off the arrears.

    Yes, you have my apology.

I do recognise that there are plenty of disabled people out there and most of the rest of us are more than willing to assist where there are things that you cannot do.

In fact I used to repair disable equipment and wheelchairs on a voluntary basis for the Red Cross and I get angry when non-disabled people use disabled parking spaces although I do recognise that there are those who do need the spaces although their impairment may not be obvious.

It was your suggestion of "playing the disabled card" which annoyed me as it's an attitude that I've also come across from those who could do a bit more than they actually do. They "play the disabled card" to try and gain special treatment to which they don't really deserve, frequently to the detriment of those who do need special treatment or facilities.

    Again I apoligise
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Fair enough. Apology accepted. 'Playing the disability card' isn't a phrase I've used often (or even ever!) before but for some reason it came into my head while writing my bit this morning. What I meant is that it would be best if someone from the power company could come out to make sure there were no inaccuracies.

It's been a long time (I think at least five years) since I've been in the cellar and I can't even remember what the meters look like or whether my friend read the correct one (there are six flats in this property) in the correct way. I presume he did but can't say for sure.

And like you I also get annoyed at seemingly non-disabled people using disabled parking spaces/calling for concessions etc but one thing I have learnt is that not everything as it seems and a lot of these people are perfectly entitled. There is however a very small groundswell of con artists out to get what they can and they are the ones who give disabled people a bad name, which often reflects badly on the rest of us. Only last week I was accused of being a fake by a passing drunk. Strangely enough I'd rather trust the medical profession for a diagnosis than him.

So there we go. No hard feelings towards you from me. The drunk however can (rude word) off and die.

Another charmer who knows absolutely nothing about my personal situation but decides to make assumptions. I have no friends eh? How do you work that one out? Must have been my invisible ones I was in the pub last night with then. Strangely enough though, most people I know are not experts on electricity bills (and nor do we often talk about things like that) so I decided to come onto a forum on which people who do know about these things hang out, hoping for a bit of advice, not personal insults.

So if you came onto a forum asking for advice about a subject you didn't know much about (and I'm absolutely sure there are several subjects I could easily bamboozle you with my knowledge of) it'd be because you're sad and lonely? Is that the way it works? Pathetic.
