*waving to everyone* Morning OSers, hope you're all ok

Nice to see you back Lillibet xx

Well everyone..............it's Friday *doing a lil Friday dance* and that's always cause for celebration PLUS after today i have a week off work - halle-blinkin-lujah! Now *looking to the heavens* if only the weather will hold I'll be able to spend the week tackling my overgrown back garden.

2 years ago I had a full compost bin, all waiting to be composted down and then last year I didnt go near the back garden, too busy partying every weekend :o apart from to strim it so when I started composting again this year I was amazed that the bin was empty! Where had it gone??? Well obviously it had gone into the soil to some extent because twined amongst the trees (that are rampant) that make up my back fence is the biggest brambly bush that normally would have been chopped back. This year it is covered, literally covered in soon to be blackberries, they are hanging off it in great bunches like grapes. And every day when I toddle up to feed the compost bin I look at the blackberries and smile. Well last night I picked and ate my first blackberry from my own bush and I felt bloomin marvellous. If they all ripen and if the birds dont get them I will be making jam!!!!!! Or something, I dunno. I just know that the more OSy stuff I do the better I feel inside and that feels good.

Question - I had a Mr T shop delivered last night - its only my second delivery and I have to say I LOVE it! No more getting aggro in supermarkets for me. And I've shown the Nipper where mysupermarket.com is on my favourites so if we run out of something he can add it himself - value straws went on last night - anyway, I'm rambling. Question - I'd ordered normal dried yeast and not bread maker yeast - is there anyway i can use it in my bread maker as I have just found the destructions after 2 years of them going walkies and want to try it out again but haven't got any bread making machine yeast. Anyone tried this?

Better try and finish my work - big chicken legs for tea - was going to curry them but seeing as I have half a ton of salad I'll marinade and roast them instead.

Have a lovely day, hugs and stuff to whoever needs/wants them xxxx

    Dia Dhibh!

Poor little Lorenzo...not fair but hopefully it won't upset him too much.

Scuzz, hope that your day improves

PenPin....completely forgot in yesterday's post, congratulations on your brilliant exam results.

JackieO...wouldn't mind taciturn builder if he turned up at 7am...my experience has been very different but has put me off. Love the idea of 60 different things you did when 60...will have to wait for 70 now myself, lots of time for me to do some very easy things!

Lillibet...stay with the baby steps, you'll get there.

DLB....enjoy your break...aren't you brave to go on fairground rides....

JCR....good luck with job to-morrow, and on weight loss

Csarina...go with the six weeks, sounds a great idea to me

Aussie....ouch! OH regularly does this to himself with boot, as his right side vision is not good, usually hits his forehead and looks as if he's been hit with an axe

    Mookybargirl...congratulations on weight loss

Pooky...sounds like a huge increase to me, even after you beat landlord down, but congratulations for the assertiveness to do so.

So proud of myself, posting so early...have been up for hours, DDs 1&2 left at 9.30 for wedding...DGD1 was not pleased... almost got sick crying for Mammy and then they were hardly out of sight before she stopped, picked up her spoon and finished her breakfast. She is going to DDIL2 tonight and excited about staying in DGS1's house, hope she stays that way!

No great plans for today beyond the eternal washing and drying...notice that I don't mention ironing, putting it out of my head altogether, which is obviously the most sensible option! Want to make sure that DGD1 is happy enough, unfortunately windy and not very warm here to-day, overcast so I would say that we will have rain at some stage.

May not get back later so have a wonderful weekend everybody...our August weekend so Bank Holiday on Monday and DS2 will be 33 on Sunday...never know what to buy him as he buys anything he wants...will have to think hard and get something to-morrow.

    Hugs to all in need

  • mornign all! Got sucked into one of those contest sites, I'll let you know of I've won anything.

Just got my veg delivery - I now have 9 kiwis!! And a fridge full of fruit + veg. Why I got a turnip at this time of year, I'll ever know - and its a massive one as well! Might try to make turnip cakes (dim sum) out of it - DH always orders them when we go out for dimsum.

Comiserations for all those with broken bones, thumped heads, etc.

MY DH got a pair of sandals for me to try to wear yesterday and they fit, but my toe didn' like them - my whole foot swwelled up and the toe throbbed..... try them again after the weekend.

Not much planned - got DH to tidy the kitchen yesterday and got to try to figure out why my sourdough isn't rising - does anyone use sourdough to make bread with??

This is the most boring day on record. Nothing is happening at work and I'm just sitting here making out I'm doing something when I'm not.

Thankfully I leave in about 50mins to go to an appointment before going home.

Hoping to have a nap later as I'm shattered. Also going to see if I can mend my flip flops

Got through way too much cola this morning, partly through boredom, partly I'm not feeling too good, so hoping it'll settle my stomach.

    Anyhoo, hope all's going well

  • Hello all.

I'm a sad sack today and I don't feel up to writing anything much.

When depression and anxiety strike I always feel like I will never get better, but I try to tell myself that it will pass in time.

Hopefully I will be back on form tomorrow.

Hi! CSARINA - Use photobucket or flickr for posting pics. Sounds like a really good deal - all that for £85 a week!
NIX143 - my blackberries are heavy with fruit and some are ready for eating; I'm going to have to buy some more jam jars this year, I think. I love blackbeerry jam - reminds me of when I was little - many summers ago!

    (((hugs))) to JULIA

Well, I now have another spider problem - I very nearly stepped on one on the stairs - it's not actually an absolutely massive one but still too big for me to handle. I didn't hoover it up this time because, although my BIL cleaned the hoover out for me, I still don't know if the spider came out with all the fluff so, when I've finished with the hoover, I put it outside the back door for the rest of the day! This new spider now has a new home - under a big glass; he's in a nice cool spot and doesn't seem to mind it; DS2 is coming over later to dispose of it for me! I am trying to be kind to them - I just wish they weren't so ugly, so black and so 'leggy'! I have also devised a way that, hopefully ensures I don't jump whenever I look into the sink or bath. I leave a 'spider ladder' in the form of a towel, drapped over the edge overnight, so that, if a spider finds itself stuck, it can climb the towel, jump onto the floor and disappear! All this military planning just because DH is away! Normally, I would just hand him the glass and paper that I keep handy.

Anyway, I've just realised that I should have done some ironing - it was on my 'to-do' list and I genuinely forgot, honest! I'll do some tonight, I think, while watching 'Ganges' which looks good. I love geographical programmes and that looks really interesting.

Dinner tonight - just me, again - will be an omelette made with lots of leftover potatoes, peppers, mushrooms and onions - I've been looking forward to it all day!

Th weather has been beautiful - not really sunbathy hot but lovely blue skies and a bit breezy - just a shame I didn't have any washing!

Anyway, will catch up with you all later!

    Hi All

What a beautiful day!..I'm sorry some people are feeling under the weather <<hugs>> to you if you are.

Busy couple of days for me. Drain man didn't turn up yesterday, I waited in all day! Rang someone else this morning, they came this afternoon, and we can now use our downstairs loo. Dishwasher man came, told me it needed a new fan (which I had of course told them when I rang), don't keep one on the van...checked stock back at Miele HQ...nope, got to wait for it to come from Germany. Still, I was waiting in for the Drain Man anyway :-))

I managed to completely dig out a huge St John's Wort. It's in the way of our new seating area. The roots were enormous. and I'm feeling quite proud of myself. I managed to break the fork in the process, so bought a new one today.

DH has been building the retaining wall for the "terrace" today. His first attempt at bricklaying and, as with everything he turns his hand to, it's perfect.

Been picking plums, as I just realised they are ripe. I've eaten at least as many as I've brought in to the house. There are some autumn raspberries ready for picking, think I'll pick them in the morning and take them to DDIL (along with a couple o fplums, if I've left any) We have tons of damsons (could be bullaces), but they aren't ripe yet. Have invested in a book about cordials and alchoholic drinks, and borrowed a wine-from-herbs -and-fruit book from the library, so will be doing something along those lines with them this year, as well as a batch of jam.

Have several more kilos of assorted toms to turn into passata, that's DH job for tonight or tomorrow I think.

Bed changed, three loads of washing on the line and the fourth one just spinning as we speak. Descaled espresso machine; had to have extra coffee afterwards, purely to check I'd rinsed it out properly of course.

Moved on to step two of making blackcurrant vodka. Need to remember to shake that jar twice a day every day for the next four days before moving on to step 3.

Have trailed mud all over my clean floors, so will go and sweep it up when I've finished here.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

    Hazelxxx

    Hi Guys,
I had a lovely afternoon with eldest DD .She looks amazingly well after her holiday, she actually has a bit of colour in her face .She is due to have her mole removed from her leg a week after my op. and she says that she really doesn't want to be out of action in case I need her .
I gave her a severe talking to:mad: , and said that if she was going to be silly then she would be grounded for the rest of the year, and no Viennese Whirls for her from my cake tin:D ( she is rather partial to those .):rotfl:
If I have to get me right bap chopped off, then a little old mole will be a piece of cake so to speak.;) After a lot of 'But's' and 'what if's' she has agreed that she would be daft not to get it done .There are times when Mum has to put her foot down, and this was one of them.I am quite capable of sorting myself out, and if I'm not, I will have my sis-in-law here anyway for a week to help out. My eldest DD is one of those who thinks that she is the only one able to look after me, I have got her sister who is more than willing to help.
My Shelly is such an obstinate child (40 this year) but she is a lovely lady for all her flapping about.
My builder has finished my conservatory off,and I now await the plasterers coming on Monday .He was very good, and did clear up after himself so I am very pleased with the result .:j
My friend June , whom I went to the U.S. with, phoned this morning ,she is coming down to see me next Tuesday for the day.She only came back from Oshkosh yesterday.
She said it was very hot there, but her and her husband had a great time .Her husband is a plane-spotter:rotfl: (yes I know ,but whatever floats his boat) and Oshkosh is the biggest private airshow in the world and he had always wanted to go there.
She also brought lots of crafting stuff back with her, so we may have a day making cards.
<<hugs>> to Kyle's LO that is rotten luck isn't it .
Scuzz: I think if I were you I would write today off altogether as it seems you are having one of those days when everything is going wrong.Go to the fridge open a bottle of vino and take a big glug ,it won't improve today but it may make you feel a bit more ...relaxed about it all.
Take care all, the sun is still blazing down at the moment so I am going to put my feet up and do precisely nothing ,cos I can:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh it's great being retired .:D
Have a good evening everyone
