If you go a half-step further, you might want to share not just the monitor but also keyboard and mouse - in which case you're looking for a 'KVM' - you can get them with USB and HDMI ports, or all kinds of configurations. Just for info
  • READ THE LISTING !!
    1 x vga INPUT
    2 x vga OUTPUT

that unit will not do as you asked.

Would that be the listing that states the exact opposite of what you have posted above?
2 VGA in, 1 VGA out.

Depends what you want to do with the second machine.

My second machine is a 10.1" Laptop, and I connect it only to install updates, or when I need to edit a MS Office Doc someone has sent me.

Also, from time to time, someone will bring me a laptop they want looking at, so I'll plug that in via the switch.

Surely not just for info, that appears what the OP needs - i.e. K(eyboard) V(ideo) M(ouse) i.e. two inputs ond one screen , saves space on the table i.e one mouse one keyboard and of course one screen

I dont want to use the computers at the same time.
I am sure there is a cable that would do this but I cant find it.
Can anybody point me to it ??
    TIA

the unit from chinwa is to split the output from a single computer and allow it to be switched to enable 2 separate output screens

the more expensive unit I pointed out , has 4 inputs and 1 output , this is what you require .

    "How's the NTFS 3G file system Freddie ? "

until the person that suggested that , can return with a programme that can be used under windows to create that file system , I cannot try it

    (thank you for asking)
Huh two outputs 1 screen , is it just you that misread firefox1986's post ? But as I agreed with paddyrg than a KVM will sort her/him out just in case table space is a problem
  • I've bought a couple of these KVMs in the past
