Battery charger - Advice please

I have quite a lot of rechargeable batteries, AA and AAA mainly.

Some years ago I bought a set of four 2700mAh NiMh bateries from eBay that came with a quick charger. Both batteries and charger were superb, in fact the batteries are still in use.

However, the charger packed up a couple of years ago and since then I've had mixed results with the couple of chargers that I've bought and none have been a patch on the original charger which although cheap was superb.

My current one is now acting up. Sometimes it will charge, sometimes not, more frequently not. I've borrowed a charger so I know the batteries it won't charge are OK.

I'm looking for recommendations for a decent and preferable reasonably priced charger.

Not saying its the best but good price, they have others.

Some years ago, I bought one of these in the States. It was sold under a different brand name and was quite expensive at the time. I'm pretty sure this is the same device and, if so, will do exactly what you want.

Hmm....

This one looks interesting. I've looked at an identical looking one that is twice the price. Comparing the two shows that the difference is the maximum charging current, on this one it's 1000mA on the other one it's 1800mA.

The more expensive version will charge batteries quicker but I think I can live with the cheaper one as I have enough spares so that I won't ever be waiting for the ones in the charger.

Looks suspiciously like (i.e. identical with) my La Crosse charger bought some years ago.

The clones are all around £30 on Amazon so 7dayshop is a good option at £20.
My how prices have fallen. An excellent charger. But if it thinks your battery is duff it will say "Null" and refuse to charge it. While some cheaper chargers will. Maybe the battery is on the way out at that point. All in all a worthwhile investment.

...but some of the reviewers have had problems with theirs.
Mine's successfully charged AAA, AA, C, D & 9V.

I like the fact it tests the batteries & warns you which are duds - I had six Cs & Ds for a couple of radios & was able to identify the individual batteries failing to charge (they were fairly old by then).

Whatever you buy, make sure it has thermal sensing for each battery.

Delta V charges are the way to go, they have "intelligent" circuitry to charge properly and detect tiny voltage changes near when batteries approach full charge.

I've been using an Ansmann one for years for all my hi-capacity ones (used for professional photography flash guns), and it's never let me down. Tantronics are a very good supplier:

Well after much prevaricating about the bush and research I have ordered one of the above from the 7 day shop. It should do the job admirably and doesn't break the bank.

It's a good charger, pity they upped the price by a couple of quid last week.

I have the one from 7 Day Shop and I also have the original Technoline BC700 on which the 7 Day Shop item appears to be based.

They are not the same charger. Other than the slightly higher current available with the 7 Day Shop version, the Technoline uses a 3 volt power unit whereas the 7 Day Shop version uses a 12 volt supply.

Having said all that, the 7 Day Shop unit works perfectly and operation is the same as the BC700 unit. Seems a good buy for the money. Added extra is the 5 volt USB output at the rear to charge phones etc..
