Hi

I am trying to see about switching (or not) from EDF may 2016

I asked for my usage for 1 year and was told ;

3948 Elec
9746 Gas

Isnt that gas a little low ? , i thought average was 3300 elec and 20000 gas ?

Normal 3 bed semi detached house , radiator heating ..

Any tips ?

Thanks

    10,000 kWh doesn't seem unreasonable or particularly low - it was the warmest winter and summer for ages last year. Average gas has changed from 20,500 to 13,500 kWh (whether that is from increased insulation and efficiency rather than more people being poor and energy being expensive, though...)

    Do you have bills from years ago to compare with last year?

    Best figures for your Annual Consumption are those you have worked out for yourself from the last 12 months bills - Surprisingly the numbers given to you by the supplier often not that accurate.

    Don't get hung up on the 'Average' figures of 3200 for Elec & 13500 for gas as it is not an Average
    It's a median figure set by Ofgem that suppliers must use when stateing the cost of any particular tariff in publicity and advertising.

    Are you sure that they are talking about electricity? 218kWhs at my tariff rate and std charge would gas about £30 after discounts.

    Gas, on the other hand. 215 cu metres equates to 2444kWhs or about £100 in real money.
