I just had a look to see when Royal Mail were putting their prices up and it's from Monday, 30 March. Great news though that small parcels are remaining the same at £2.80 up to 2 kg. So glad they've kept that as it's working very well and is expensive enough to add to a purchase.

The other very good news is that Medium parcels 1 kg which were £5.20 are now going to be reduced to £4.89 and Medium parcels 2 kg are being reduced from £8 to £4.89 so now same price right up to 2 kg. That's great news because coats normally had to be sent with a courier as £8 was just too expensive for buyers.

I hope this is helpful to others when doing your next lot of listings as I remember last year listing the items then the price changed before they ended. Useful to bookmark the leaflet for reference until RM get the new ones printed as it's usually part way through April before they are available.

    Threads merged for clarity.

Also a reminder that these prices are now only a week away, so any auctions finishing after saturday should show th enew prices if they have gone up- otherwise sellers might have a shock when they go to the PO.

This warning probably does no good as we always get posts right through to early summer where sellers have forgotten the increases and swear blind that RM didn't even announce them and are just cheating us all.

Just bumping to remind people that there are only a few more days left of the old postage rates.

One last bump and a tip.

My mail centre that takes my post in will accept paypal printed labels that were printed today (at the old postal rate) - up to close of business tomorrow. So if I print my labels today I'll get them at the old rate, which for large letters is a penny or two different. I don't know if that is the same for all mail centres or post offices but worth considering.

Also worth noting that paypal and Royal Mail often go down early evening to start making the changes- so print labels while you can.

Lastly, for overseas items that can go as a large letter - save these until tomorrow as they will be cheaper.

I take it you can still get proof of postage?
I imagine it's only the bigger POs with the special windows for online / fasttrack customers....

I use a mail centre , all my items are pre labelled either with paypal postage or stamps and I hand a sack in (or more likely a bag now as sales are slower) together with a bulk proof of posting. They empty the bag straight into sorting cages and stamp my POP.

I do occasionally use one of three post offices and they will take pre paid postage items and again just stamp my POP. None of the POs I occasionaly use have separate windows, I just queue up with everyone else and wait my turn.

Arghh, paypal are not showing the Large letter rates for overseas and I've a small pile of items to send here that I left until today.

EDIT ; Royal Mail online postage are showing the new rates- but it is such a faff transferring stuff across to print labels.

    Blasted paypal

    Hi All

Just been to the P.O and told international large letter class is for letters only, paper etc, You can't send any other items in this class.

Unlike the UK Large letter which you can send all items eg clothes

    Anyone else been told this?

    Or have I been mis-sold

    Cheers

It doesn't look like that is a restriction anywhere. I don't even think it applies to letters, as long as they fit through the slot and aren't prohibited you can send anything.

I've just spoke to my OBA account manager and she says that international large letters can contain anything as long as it's not on the restricted list.
