7 weeks old used car fault, under warranty?
Hi
Hoping someone can give me some advice?
We purchased a used megane (62 plate) over new year which had 12 months left on its warranty, we bought it from the renault dealer.
This week the car lost all power and was limping. we rang the dealer who told us to ring the warranty people and they sent someone to pick the car up.
yesterday they have rang and told us that the turbo has gone and they'd ring us back today,
does anyone know if this will be covered under the warranty or if i'm going to get a huge bill?
Thanks in advance...
Kitty

It should be covered under warranty (eg voided warranty lack of service etc) and even if it isn't the dealer would be liable after 7 weeks.
The danger is this gets passed from pillar to post so keep your finger on the pulse and make sure someone has taken ownership of the problem.0 -
Thank you Hintza, Am just worried theyd try and say thats its our fault / wear and tear and not pay!0

It hasn't failed after seven weeks - it's failed after two and a bit years, and however many thousand miles. Yes, that's a short life for a turbo, so it may well be found to be faulty.0

This is a Renault !I do Contracts, all day every day.0

What's the mileage? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Of course you are correct, but from the OPs perspective it has. If the warranty folk play silly bu$$ers then the OP has protection under SOGA.
Not the warranty company you aim for, it's the seller. A warranty is merely an extension to your statutory rights. Up to the seller to deal with/use the warranty, not the consumer.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
The same engine was used in the Volvo v40D, however they changed the oil feed pipe and fitted a circulation pipe, the same engine runs for hundreds of thousands without issue, so it is a good unit, with a school boy design error they refuse to correct.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

Volvo were a Ford company until the Chinese took them over, and used Ford/PSA diesels as well as internal ones.
Renault/Nissan have their own range of diesels.
Volvo have used Renault engines, but not for a looong while.0
