Conveyancing query: can the freeholder not be the lessor?

    What happens when the lease expires in 999 years? Can the leaseholder then throw the freeholder out?
    No.

    The freeholder then throws the leaseholder out!

    The freeholder owns the land, and the building. The leaseholder simply owns the right to live in part of the building (the flat) for a period of time (999 years).

    Yes but it might have a big bearing on the answers now the lease is down to 997 years lol
  • I've got a similar situation I'm trying to sort out, and I got told off for starting a new thread about something else, so I carried on an old relevant one that hadn't reached a conclusion.
