You need to look at your local authority's web site as they have different policies. Some offer nothing at all, others give a month or two for major renovations which make the house uninhabitable and maybe some would offer something in your situation.
Generally discounts like this are getting rarer - charging CT on empty houses encourages people to get on and live in them.0 -
As you will own the property i would assume you will have to pay?Buying our own home is so exciting!0

You will be liable for CYT from the day you take ownership, but some councils offer discounts for uninhabited properties for various periods of time. You'll need to claim though.
Ring them and ask or check their website.0 -

I did the same. In my area council tax relief is capped at week. It used to be much longer. When you set it up you local authority will advise you.0

We've just had our house renovated before moving in & got a 50% reduction in CT during the renovation work. It's a discretionary discount from our council and depends on what work is being done.0

We're in a similar position and the council here gives 50% if major refurbishment/development is taking place. It was really easy to find on the council's website. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
