Which mortgage lenders only use Equifax to check credit?
There is a default showing on Experian and not on Equifax and we are at our wits end trying to get it removed from Experian (fraudulent payday loan)

Hmmm didn't know they asked that. Someone on here previously said to check both credit reports, which we have now done and it's not on Equifaxtackling credit card debt starting Feb 2020

What if you have had a default but then the bank removed it. Do you still have to answer yes to that also? Because my partner had a default from the bank for an old account and we wrote and they removed it but now this other default for a payday loan which he never had is taking weeks to remove. The payday loan company are in America and they don't take direct calls.
All of this has stemmed from he moved house and never got any post hence never being aware of anything until recentlytackling credit card debt starting Feb 2020

That may be why its not showing on equifax. Hi ACG, just check the old thread and it was you that suggested to check all credit reports.
What was the point in checking Equifax if we still have to declare defaults?
He only had one previous address and that is showing on there, you have to put it in to get the credit report. In fact we had to scan his current proof of address over to them as they thought he still lived at the old address, even though his bank etc has changed overtackling credit card debt starting Feb 2020

OH needs to contact the lender via equifax website explaining that it is fraudulent and proof can be supplied and that he would like all references to it removed etc. They will contact the lender to request consent to remove it and get back to you. When removed get a confirmation in writing.
Also add a notice of correction to the fraudulent account so your side of the issue is available to anyone looking at the account.
It should not take more than 10 days to resolve if done correctly - usually sooner.

Some lenders do not ask about CCJs/Defaults,
Some lenders will ask but dont really count it (or at least not to the same degree) if they can not see it.
As I said, find a decent broker and there could be a home for it.

I would suggest against adding a notice of correction.

Fair enough, but I thought the default would trip it up anyway? Good to know though, thanks.
On the premise that the fraudulent entry would be removed, the notice should also disappear. I found a fraudulent one on checking my CRA recently and did as above. The notice then disappeared.
I was not in the process of getting approved for a mortgage though!0 -
