OH needs to contact the lender via equifax website explaining that it is fraudulent and proof can be supplied and that he would like all references to it removed etc. They will contact the lender to request consent to remove it and get back to you. When removed get a confirmation in writing.

Also add a notice of correction to the fraudulent account so your side of the issue is available to anyone looking at the account.

It should not take more than 10 days to resolve if done correctly - usually sooner.

    Best of luck

Thanks but we have already done this through Experian, they have contacted Pounds to Pocket but still awaiting response. We are awaiting a response, the financial ombudsman have also opened a complaint. Experian said they can't remove it until Pounds to Pocket agree it is fraud. There is already a notice of correction and application went to Halifax to underwrite but they said no as we have nothing in writing at the minute to say it is fraud.

The only response we have had from Pounds to Pocket was an email saying if we pay £1000 it will be removed within 24 hours. Its been going on weeks and we are calling every day but literally cannot speak to anyone at Pounds to Pocket.

It's not down as a default with Equifax so not started this process with them yet, only got Equifax credit report on Monday

I've also emailed FCA this week and our local MP has also contacted the loan company asking that it is dealt with immediately. They just came back and asked him for our credit report. Which was already sent on 23rd January.

Just going round in absolute circles

Apologies, Experian was what I meant. I would not contact the lender directly. Hassle Experian and let them chase it. There is an Experian Rep on the credit file and ratings forum, who may be of some assistance.

thanks but Experian have already said there is nothing they can do until the loan company respond. Experian have actually been quite good and have updated us on the complaint but they said they cannot remove it without the company say so.

So I guess if they never respond which is looking like what they are doing at the minute, it will never get removed :-(

Interesting that they respond by email to 'suggest' you pay £1k but not to CRA for weeks. At best the have to reply within 28 days and should have a signature or some evidence?

I would give it one more week and demand that experian write a letter/email that if they do not reply the entry will be withdrawn.

It has been challenged as fraud, so should be proven otherwise. Again the rep here would be useful but up to you.

I hope it gets resolved for you soon or other mortgage lender/broker as per info above.
