After one week ,can I change car insurance

I buy used car(more than 10 years old) recently .

I was confused my model .
My vc5/2 new sellers part only Make. No model name.
I contact DVLA . They do not have information .

On the back of the car , I can see the model name.

But today I found under the front driver car description .
I already made my insurance with other car description. and I need to correct it.

I check online price does not differ for that insurance company .

Example Car
Make : ABC
Model : Speed
Description: Sports

Did the insurer not go by the registration number? Phone your insurance and give them the correct data, they may charge for this.

But if you cancel the policy then they will charge you anyway.

Of course you can change details after 1 week. It is very important that the information your insurer has is accurate.

Are you sure which is right? Cars from different manufacturers and different models share parts, so having one model name on one part of your car doesn't mean that it is that car. eg my Mazda 121 had Ford Fiesta parts all over it.

Why don't you just post the true description and the insured description instead of playing games with Car ABC Speed Sport?

You don't think people would give better advice with the proper details (which are hardly going to be top secret, it's only the car description).

Car is Ford
Model is Focus
But is it Zetec, LX, Ghia, Titanium, RS

I checked etis dot ford dot com with the VIN which said it is Zetec. But on the driver side front door from out side it said Lx.

Also , if I cancel insurance within one week and go other insurance , does it affect my credit file?

You can always give to them the correct data of your car, but I'm not really sure if they have a certain charge for this one unless you'll try to change the policy itself, surely, there is a charge for that.

Cancellation will usually involve a cancellation fee, information update will usually involve a mid term adjustment fee and may involve a premium alteration (up or down) if it involves a model change.


No affect on your credit score if you get new quotes.

What does this 16V means

16 valve engine, I don't think Ford do an 8 valve engine in the Focus so it's probably the only choice.

With regard to the LX badge, you know it's possible a previous owner might have just stuck the badge on? (It could easily be off another car from a scrap yard).

I would suggest the FordEtis page (or what the V5 says) is the one the insurance company will take, not a badge anyone could have stuck on the car.
