Paypal resolution - what are the chances??

Hi all - sold an item on ebay and customer paid via Paypal - customer has decided 2 weeks later that the item was not as described - she has opened a paypal dispute against me. Paypal are holding the funds and I have responded with all the info they required.. the item was just as described... what is the proceedure with this sort of thing - who is the usual winner?? any info would be great... ;)

Hard to say... what kind of item, what kind of alleged misdescription?

Has to be said, most times PP side with the buyer for SNADs.

Hi there - thanks for replying - it is a second hand jacket - the buyer fist said it was fake, then afterwards said oh no not fake, its damaged.. it was not damaged at all - she says it had a black mark on it - I had over 1500 + feedback and never had a negative till today..
I just dont know what paypal do in these situations - I cant find any sort of guidelines on this - should I just offer a refund and take the jacket back?? I am not an aggressive person at all!!
    Thanks so much..

TBH, if you think you're in the right, sit tight. You'll only have to refund if a) paypal say you do and b) the buyer sends it back via trackable means.

No point caving in... yet :D

In these instances you can tell so much by the tone of their messages and how they reply to follow up messages. It is always a juggling act deciding on whether they are at it.

I have one just now claiming item is crashing and crashing their PC I offered to replace (however I would be sending it back to the manufacturer first). They have not responded as of yet, but it was just the way her message was phrased I thought...hmmm...buyer regret. Maybe I will never hear from her again

Whilst some will have a new item by return (or a full refund) if they just take time to expalin what the problem is and don't issue demands.

Hi there - you ar so right - if this person had just said it didn't fit or I didn't like it I would have offered a refund but to accuse someone from the off is a little worrying - I won't hold my breath on Paypal finding in my favour though - they never have so far - Does anyone know if the buyer damages it do I have any comeback at all?? I know there was not any damage at all when it was sent but she is now saying it had a large black mark on...
Thanks again to everyone and happy FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Has the person returned the item to you?

Not yet - but they seem very nasty from their tone in messages and so I assume now they have decided the jacket was damaged - IT WILL BE!!
Paypal are reviewing the case... will let you know what they decide....

I always thought that Paypal asks for the buyer to return the item back to sender, providing a trackable source. They have to provide ebay/paypal with the tracking number! I could be wrong! So please - do correct me if I am!

I agree that They shouldn't "just take their word for it", hence why asking to return the item!
