Non fault car accident not settled after six months - what can I do?

In August last year I was involved in a car accident where a lorry switched lanes and hit my car. I managed to flag down the lorry and we exchanged details. I reported the claim to my insurer and my car was repaired within a few days.
At the time my insurer was unable to give me a like for like car because the third parties insurance (Aviva) wouldn't admit liability, but I was assured this was normal practice. I think to complicate things it was an agency driver, so there were multiple insurers involved at their end.
Now six months later my insurance is due for renewal so I called to find the value of the claim, and was told at the time that the claim was still not settled!
After talking to the recoveries department last week they said the other parties insurance had been sent the invoices and they were waiting payment, and they only had a few more days to settle.
I called back today and was told the third parties insurer had said my insurers needed to talk to Aviva!
So because they have been chasing the wrong insurer the claim has not been settled, and my renewal is higher than it should be
Is there anything I can do to try and speed things up? Has anyone been in a similar situation before?
Thanks in advance.

My mum had a non fault claim ongoing for almost 2 years.
Add the cost of the increased premium to the claim and see if they respond back.
The agency driver should still have been covered by the companies insurance that hired him.
They wont normally come with their own insurance.
Not sure why they are chasing the wrong insurer, Unless the agency guy came with his own vehicle?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
6 months isnt that uncommon for a straight forward RTA claim between two private cars.
Make one or more vehicle a commercial vehicle and the claims always take longer because of the complexity of insurance arrangements, that the driver rarely can talk directly to the insurer but has to go via management and the broker. Similarly there can often be claims management companies involved in addition to the insurer and broker (not the ambulance chasing type in consumer world)
If you stay with your current insurers they should automatically correct the premium once its resolved. If its cheaper to go elsewhere then double check if they'd be willing to amend premium after its been resolved and if this would attract any admin fees etc0 -
Thanks for the replies.0
