How do I oil my shredder?

My shredder is fairly new, and has started making a squeaking noise and cutting off after shredding only about half the number of pages it did when it was new.
I know I need to oil it, but I'm not sure where to put the oil. Also, should I use WD40 or 3 in 1 oil?

You can get oil specifically for shredders, e.g.

(I've no idea how this differs from 3 in 1 or whatever), and here's what you do with it:

What does the manual to your shredder say about oiling it ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Before now, I've done this:
1) Ensure shredder's bin is empty
2) Outside, spray clean sheet of A4 paper with WD40 or Screwfix chain lubricant
3) Shred sprayed sheet
4) Empty bin again (to landfill waste) before shredding anything else (that could be composted or recycled depending on local waste provision).0 -
I just set my shredder to forward and spray some WD40 in where the paper goes. I can hear the tone of the shredder change from a low grumbling sound to a higher and happier sound.0

Thanks all, mine is now sorted.0

Glad others have answered this before me as I wasn't sure if it was a euphemism.Hedgehog99 wrote: »3) Shred sprayed sheet
Why had I never thought of this in the past? Sounds like a nice, non-messy way of lubing, thanks!0 -

This blog post suggests that the use of WD-40 to lubricate a shredder might not be the best idea:
