Did the LL crossed a line?

My LL is evicting me. He gave me wrong notice at first and during the 8 weeks notice I didn't find anywhere to go.
Council couldn't help becaue LL hadn't follow correct procedures so he had to serve me with a valid S21 but told me he would appreciate if I moved out sooner. I told him AGAIN I am struggling to find a new rental since I am a newly single mother and would probably become homeless so he asked me if there was any chance my exH and I would get back together and rent together again?

I didn't like it. It is none of his business. He doesn't have a clue why my marriage ended and it is not his place to ask me that kind of question specially because I am perfectly entitled to stay put until bailiffs. He just need to suck it up, sorry, this is how land- lording goes.
I don't like to be angry at people, it is bad for me not them, but it has been nearly a week he asked me that question and I am still gobsmacked and upset.
I need to get over it.

Yes. You need to get over it.

LL is just suggesting various alernatives he can think of. OK, your personal life is none of his business, but equally it really doesn't matter!

He asked a Q, you (presumably) answered. End of.

He does not want to have to get bailiffs in unless he has to, either for his sake, or yours - bailiffs are no fun and nor do you want to have to pay for them do you?

Focus on what matters - finding somewhere to live, whether that's on your own, with your mum, via the council, with your ex (there - I've said it!), with new partner, or somewhere else.

Landlords won't accept me despite my clean credit, full time employment, good LL references and deposit and 1st rent in advice. You know, I am a singe parent who receives a bit of benefits (there-I've said it)
My mum lives in another continent.
Definitely not going back to my eX and even if I had a partner would't move back in with them.
If bailiffs come it is because I had no choice at all.
I can't take my daughter and go sleep rough.

So are you posting here for comments on the way your LL spoke to you, or for advice on where/how to rent?

If you have FT employment & clean credit, then providing your income can meet the rent I don't see why you think "Landlords won't accept me"

Income without HB can't meet the rent.

You need a plan. If you don't have a plan eventually bailiffs will come and then your will be homeless. Take control and move on your terms.

Some landlords will take people who rely on benefits.

especially where you can show a FT salary and the benefit is HB, for which you also have evidence.

You'll have more difficulty finding somewhere if you end up staying until the bailiffs come. No private landlord would let to you again. You'll end up in emergency housing - just a one room B&B. I would maybe look at different areas to see if they're cheaper

How would future LL's know that bailiffs had evicted the OP? Answer, they wouldn't.

As for ending up in a B&B, yes that's a possibility but it's a possibility that could lead to social housing and a secure tenancy. Every cloud has a silver lining.

If I remember rightly from previous threads, the OP lives in London, so it could well be more difficult to find a LL there willing to accept a T in receipt of HB. This also means that any social housing eventually offered could be in Luton or further afield.

Thanks, I have another thread regarding my housing trouble, the question here is about the landlord asking me a very personal question. Maybe I got so upset because his behavior was borderline harassment until the council approached him and explained my rights as a tenant and his obligations as a landlord including following correct eviction procedures...he didn't have a clue.
So after all this he has the gut to pressure me into moving out before I have to ( before notice expires ) and brings up that stupid question...
