Hi Mess.
I can honestly understand how frustrating (that's probably an understatement!!!) things like this can feel. Unfortunately, just about anyone with a van and some tools can set themselves up as a "mobile mechanic". I know a couple of people who've done it and, honestly, I wouldn't trust them near my kid's push bike
The best thing is undoubtedly to get it recovered by a garage for proper diagnosis - it doesn't need to be local to you at this point, so you can keep the recovery fee down. Just having a garage still isn't an absolute guarantee of ability, but it's a much better one than having a Transit van!
Incidentally, Foxy's suggestion about fuel isn't as smart-!!! as it sounds. It's unlikely, but not unknown, for fuel gauges to fail and show fuel when you're actually slowly running out of the stuff!
When I read it I assumed his point was that any half decent mechanic should have physically checked that there's fuel in the tank before spending your money on expensive replacements!0 -
Whats wont start at all mean though? Is it cranking over and in my previous post?
As Joe says, Anyone can be a mechanic with a cheap spanner set and soil oily clothes.
I had a mate that did 3 months on a course then setup himself, He would do jobs and if they went wrong he would say he needs a part or a tool and not return.
A good local garage is worth their weight in gold. Even a good garage can get it wrong though. Then its how they deal with it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Ask at work if anyone knows a garage locally that they trust and use.0

You have tried the fuel cut off reset in the passenger side footwell ?
That has stumped many a mechanic.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
what fault codes from the diagnosis that was carried out was recorded find this out then it will give you start on where to look. you must get this information from these mechanics or you will have to pay for the new garage to start from the beginning & pay for them to start their checks to try & fix the fault0
