Help with Council Tax Support

Only people with capital less than £6000 will receive help. If one has a penny more, they will pay the full council tax. It will leave many in poverty and why has council changed this from April?

Each council now is able to make their own rules, what is the case in one council does not mean it is the same all over

If a person or couple have £6k then yes, they should absolutely pay their own council tax. Why on earth would someone expect otherwise?

Since Council Tax Benefit was scrapped every Local Authority runs their own scheme with their own rules. If someone has 1 penny above the capital limit then they only need to spend a penny to get their capital limit below.

Well I'd like to be in poverty with £6000. You are aware that for those on NMW working full time this is a dream. Yet still pay full council tax.

but spend that penny wisely because if council think you deliberately "lost" money to gain benefit you may not get it!
