Does this water bill seem right?

in Water bills
My parents were paying in excess of £100 per month for their water bill up until a few months ago. It is now down to around £30.00 per month.
My Dad believes this is because he fixed a leaky tap in the downstairs bathroom, but it seems an awful lot of water from a leaky tap! There was at the same time a mains leak that was related to next door.
I am wondering if it's worth investigating this further and how would I go about it?
Our bill is usually around £20 p/m so seems extortionate to be over £100 but we are with different providers.
Any thoughts?

Presumably they are using metered water and the bills are actual rather than estimated Try switching their water off and seeing if it affects the neighbors.
£70 per month sounds very unlikely for a leaky tap. Contact the provider, explain the £70 difference and ask them to check your parents meter is only supplying your parents.
This estimates £18 per year for a leaky tap. http://www.waterwise.org.uk/pages/faqs.html0 -
might include arrears for underpayment0

Since water prices vary by up to 250% nationally it's impossible to answer your question by comparing across regions. Who is the supplier and how many units have been billed on the respective bills? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
