vodafone default help!!

Hi guys
I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice.
back in 2008 I took out a phone contract with vodafone, I cancelled it in dec 2010 and took out a new contract with another provider however continued recieving bills from voafone, after several phoncalls it was established that they had failed to cancel the account correctly but agreed to waive the bills as the error had been on their part. The matter was resolved or so I thought!!
About to apply for a mortage for my first moe with my partner and upon checking my experian I can see a vodafone default on my credit reprot for the amount that was supposed to have been waived!! Totally devestated about the fact it has been on file all this time and that it could seriously damage my mortage app!
My big problem is that because this was a while ago (and i believed it was resolved) I dont have any info relating ot the account!! i have the last 5 digits of the account number, thanks to experian and my name and address but thats it!
I am also struggling to get a hold of anyone at vodafone to help me resolve the issue. Ideally I'd like them to remove the default but am so desparate for this to not affect my mortgage app that I'd happily pay the outstanding balance to have the matter settled!!
I posted a similar comment to this in the odafone eforum but cant seem to get in touch any other way
Any ideas??Advice on how to move forward?
would bemuch appreciated!!

me again,
further to the above,
i managed to speak to an advisor in the vodafone call centre, she located my old account (and gave me the details) she found that the account is actually in credit, the balance was settled at the time of cancellation and she agreed that the default shouldnt appear on my account. She told me to start a web chat on the vodafone website with a web chat adviser who would be able to being the process of having the default removed (letter to credit bureau (i cant spell that word sorry!! 3 attempts and that looks closest to the right way!)
anyway I cannot for the life of me work out how to start a web chat on the vodafone website!! Any ideas how else i can contact them?0 -
http://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/
Click on Personal and go through the options, it's at the bottom of the page where it says 'Live Help' click on the link and a new window will open.
Or try thisI'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The Vodafone company representative can be regularly found on these forums so if you’re having difficulties contacting them via web chat you may find the link above useful.
If you feel the information on your Experian Credit Report is incorrect including the update provided by Vodafone please let us know by contacting us, we would be more than happy to help.
Kind Regards

Just say Agency. It's Credit Bureau in the US, but in this country it's Credit Reference Agency.0
