O/S Daily Monday 23rd February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, air feels chilly though. Very damp underfoot too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.

Lunch yesterday was roast beef, had all the trimmings with it, all eaten and enjoyed. Gammon, egg, new pots, peas, and onion sauce for dinner tonight.

Had a very chilled day yesterday. Back to work today – it will probably be another manic Monday as letters hit the mats either Friday, Saturday or today regarding unpaid monies. This always creates work for us as customers come in to sort out the issues or complain. A busy day means the day passes quickly though.

I can’t believe how quickly the months are passing by, we’re nearly into March already – hopefully that means the better weather will be on it’s way, it’s always nice to get the lighter nights too.

Have a good Monday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Looks like a nice day here again but we are meant to get a really cold snap again this week, lets hope that's the end if it after that.

Off to work for me at the other site today which I don't like as much its much quieter with not as many clients, although it will be a nice rest after the madness of half term.

Dinner tonight is already done when we did the roast beef from yesterday we doubled the spuds etc so we will have the same tonight, there is also enough for a dinner tomorrow, either with mash or chips, and enough meat to put in the freezer for curry another time, so good value all in all and very tasty.

Online shopping was done yesterday along with some ebay listings, so will have a relaxing evening tonight.

    Have good days all xx

    Hi everyone,

Spent most of the weekend on the Wirral at sis-in-laws. Saturday was a machine embroidery course which was very good but frustrating because my machine was being very temperamental.

Got home yesterday afternoon and went to a get together with DD, it was my friends and their children that we used to meet every week when the children were little. Then went home and made sweet and sour chicken, broccoli and cashews in oyster sauce and oriental salmon all out of the freezer and store cupboard (dd's bf joined us). DD is 32 today, where has the time gone.

    Have a good day
  • Morning all. Another dismal morning here with a bit of red sky thrown in - not a good sign!

Doctors for me yet again today with the usual complaint - another uti clobbered me through the night. This is despite being on a low maintenance dose a/b since the last one 2 weeks ago. I am so fed up of them and feel as if neither the GP or the Urologist care and consider me a nuisance. After 15 months of them they really are getting me down now.
I have read up all I can find on the problem and spent a fortune on natural products which haven't helped.

Oh well, moan over and fortunately no childminding to be done today. Easy day mealwise too as quite a lot of beef left from yesterday so that's been sliced into the gravy and we will have that warmed up for dinner with the leftover mash and veg. Lunchtime probably hm soup from the freezer and a toastie.

Sorry for the moan folks. Have a good day all and take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Stormy day here, driving rain and very blustery. Not at all nice.

Yesterday we had a lovely lunch out, a very full plate indeed, and then went for a drive. Should have been a walk but the weather was so awful.

OH gone back down south so I'm still under the duvet though I have been up, gone downstairs for a cup of tea and then came back up!

Need to re-arrange the fridge, we didn't eat much this weekend, can't work out why, so lots to stuff into the freezer.

Only at work two days this week as I've taken leave on Thursday/ Friday. Today is the birthdays of two friends so I need to go out to deliver the cards and presents.

Apart from that it's a tidy up day. The two rugs we bought before Christmas are shedding fluff like mad and spreading it all over the living room. Need to change them soon.

Hope everyone is doing well, sorry to hear about your continuing problems TA, it's horrible for you.
  • Morning all,

TA - How horrible for you. I wonder if Embarrassing bodies are doing another series. They seem to get long term problems sorted.

Off to a training morning shortly which should finish about half twelve. Then I want to pop into a local sewing shop which I have never found open. When I looked online it is only open from 10 - 2 so obviously owned by a parent with school kids. I wonder if they actually make much money?

DS2 gone to college and DH off to work. Need to pick up some meat from the Dobbies butcher to replenish the freezer.

    Good day all :)

Haven't been on here much lately as so caught up with working every day and then I'm whacked when I get home. DH has been doing the shopping and cooking mainly, although we do discuss what we're having beforehand.

Bright, breezy and sunny day here today so hope it goes well for everyone.
  • Morning, bright and sunny, so bed linen in the washer, will soon be blowing in the breeze, hope it stays fine long enough to dry it.

Do not feel much better after my sofa day yesterday, seeing the Dr. tomorrow, see what she has to say.

MOnday clean to do, will throw the duster round, OH will hoover. Shopping on Wednesday, I have 4 eggs left so guess whats for supper, eggs, beans and wedges.

    Good morning everyone

It's wet and cold and I don't want to go out...stamps foot.....but I have weigh-in this morning and I am curious to know how I've done after last weeks big loss. I'm getting a taxi there and my friend is picking me up afterwards and coming back here for lunch. I really hope my sister is there too as she said she was going to rejoin today to get a bit of weight off before her holiday.

DD13 is home for a few days as she has tonsillitis the poor thing. She is just laying on the sofa swathed in blankets with the Disney channel on so she's quite happy really. It's nice for me to have some company as well and she is actually in a fairly good mood. Well she can't exactly shout at us at the moment :) Her sisters went off to school ok this morning although DD12 did try it on a bit but I was having none of it today. Hubby went off to work ok as well.

I was up at 5am putting a moroccan lamb stew in the slow cooker which will cook quietly all day and then we will have it with couscous tonight. We haven't had it for a while as lamb is just so expensive. The house already smells lush :). I have 2 manky bananas which are begging to be put into a cake so I will make one later as well.

Hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx

Morning all! Have been sorting out the budget this morning, all reconciled now. Off to supermarket and C*stco in a bit. 1 load of washing done, run out of powder now so will have to wait for the rest.

Pulled pork in rolls with coleslaw for dinner.
