Lesson number one about organic food boxes.

Options
Lesson: Don't depend on them as the vans can break down and you can be left with nothing to eat that is fresh.

I think this is rather a large problem with these places that supply these boxes that they don't have the capacity to say for certain they can put on an extra delivery another day if anything like a break down happens and so you are left a whole week without any fresh food unless you go buy some.

Has this happened to you Phil? The last time you posted about veg boxes you were recommending them. What happened and which company are you talking about? My veg box has always arrived and I've always been pleased with it. Perhaps you were just unlucky.

I guess this never happens with the lovely GM fruit & veg flogged in Tescos as they have shiny new lorries that never break down.

What a moronic thread anything that's on a vehicle that's delayed by breakdowns isn't going to arrive is such good nick as that on a vehicle arriving on schedule

poor you Phil. I get mine from a good company called riverford. Rain hail or shine he has never let me down. Even delivering here in the dark after skidding everywhere in the snow

It has happened to me, but as I know many people are interested in these that it is worth pointing out that these things happen and you should not depend on them for life or death as a food source.

Fair point I think, we used to have regular deliveries of F&V here, I relied on it so had my sons packed lunch food for the Friday as she delivered Thursday evenings. All of a sudden it stopped. At 9pm at night when I realised she wasn't coming the kids were in bed and I couldn't go out to get it and had to dash to the shops before school the next day. I won't rely on a service again like that, my son has Autism and his reliance on the routine of same foods would mean a very BAD day if those things that keep him 'sane' were not there.

With the snow thing, I'm one of those who would prefer they didn't deliver it was unsafe, if anything happened and they were on way to deliver to me or away from I would feel guilty, I know I would. A friend was in an accident on the way to meeting me one night and I've felt guilty about that since as he wouldn't have came if I haddn't asked.

As for the box deliveries, been trying to get one from a local supplier for ages, doesn't answer the phone or reply to emails, grrr, will have to look elsewhere.
One day I might be more organised...........

IF you're where you say you are and you use Farmaround like you say you do, then you get the same delivery van as me. It hasn't broken down once so far.

Transport fails sometimes, whether you're getting the bus to the supermarket or waiting for a delivery. I don't think there's anything else to say on the matter.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
