Insurance - when to get?

Ensure loss of passport and replacement costs cover are in place. I've just purchased a policy and they offered a discount if you excluded baggage cover.
I was about to opt for the discounted cover, but then noticed this also excluded cover for loss of passports, not something I would be without.0 -

We're not going away beforehand if that makes any difference.
In that case you don't need an Annual policy, since that would provide insurance for the holidays that you are not going to take! Get single-trip cover for the exact dates of your holiday, and get that immediately. You will then automatically have full cancellation cover.
Annual policies work well for frequent travellers but are not for everyone, and can get complicated with cancellation cover.0 -
As per the others......insurance is needed the moment your money/payment is more than you want to risk.0
