Letter from nPower

I'd already left the premise 2 months prior to the beginning of this questioned period.
I called them to tell inform them of this but because they say they have no records of this, it is their word 'nPower' against just me. Would it be worth trying to get the phone records? I know it wouldn't prove what was said but it shows the phone call was made with duration and date so that is something that falsifies nPower saying no contact was made?
Thank you for replying.
I would seriously think about making the complaint to the energy ombudsman, at the moment, its there word against yours, and in the end, they must prove you owe this.
The ombudsman would take the "common sense" approach, why would you leave a property and not inform the electric company you had done so, when you were fully aware you would continue to be billed for that period, if you didn't, it just doesn't make any sense.
Just because Npower have no record of the call, does not mean it didnt take place.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Would an ombudsman decision in my favour end this? I just don't want to turn to an option that would make me liable for this debt as its not mine.

Well you can never predict the outcome of these things can you, £1200 is a lot of money, they may take you to court for it, then it would be for a judge to decide.
If you want it sorting once and for all, i would go down this route, you do not have to accept there decision, but the company does.
You must of first exhausted N powers complaints procedure, i assume you have done that already ?
The link is here for you, i strongly advise you to take it up with them :

I'm still waiting to hear back from nPower regarding the original letter I sent.
I also sent it to the debt company and they have come back with saying any contact attempts made were done by a previous debt collection agency so they cannot comment on that. They have asked for the contact details of the guy who took charge after me. And they said this which I don't understand:
"In terms of current supply, Npower will open a new account if the tenant changes, it may the result of this that caused the account to be re-billed leaving said balance"
Also, the owner of the property has said they paid the council tax on the building for that period as the person running the shop had not paid it and it was billed them. This is something that proves it wasn't me there as otherwise it makes no sense for the owner to pay it as they have had daily contact with me.
Also, do you think its worth disputing why its £1600? Its a 3 month period, usually the bill is around £400?

Well these companies !!!! up all the time, it seems even the DCA may now think you've been double billed.
I would not dispute the amount, because you are disputing the debt as a whole.
Wait and see what N POWER come back to you with, and bear in mind you can still take this to the energy ombudsman.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Its ridiculous - nothing suggests its my debt apart from nPower having my name through their mistake of lost records.
I'm waiting to hear back from my council as well as I informed them when I leaving the business which is something else that adds to my case.
Thank you for replying - I really appreciate your support and advice as I am clueless.
I will contact ombudsman depending on what nPower say in their reply. Will keep thread updated.
Many thanks once again!0 -

Yep, I can see it too. I'm confident logic dictates that its not my debt with the evidence I have but I can't go to them without hearing back from nPower.
Is there anything you would suggest I do or explore in the mean time?0 -
Wait for the N POWER response, and take it from there.
Any DCA hassle, just tell them you are dealing with NPOWER and leave it at that.
