Sky Fibre Unlimited - any good?

Hi all

I currently have normal Sky Broadband and achieve a maximum of 4mb download speed therefore potentially looking at upgrading to Sky Fibre which I can get half price (£10) for 6 months.

Does anyone have any experience of Sky Fibre? What sort of speed should I expect?

I currently get my BB free of charge so need to justify the extra £20 per month.

Cheers

Have you checked to see if your local box has been upgraded?

I got 4mb with my standard BB and now get 73mb on fibre (Plusnet) But should be the same with Sky.

It depends on how close you are to the local box and the condition of the wire between it and your home.

Use the line checker on the Sky or BT OR sites and it will tell you the likely speed your line can support with FTTC-no one on here can tell you that. Sky FTTC is provided by BT, so any fibre provider on that line should give you the same speed, be it Sky, TT, Plusnet or BT.
Only you can decide if you need more than 4MBps and if the extra is worth it. But I'd be surprised if you can't triple your current speed (assuming that FTTC is available on your street cab or course).

We switched from BT Infinity to Sky Fibre and get 29Mbps or thereabouts. The connection seems better with Sky compared to BT but that could also be down to the new moden/router supplied by Sky.
  • Had no problems with Sky fibre always had above 30Mbps but I'm not too far from an Exchange. I'm in process of leaving as they are twice as much as BT if BT honour the offer. It's £10 per month with BT sky have bang theirs to £20 a month now. Just hoping BT are as good

I never said BT's fibre was rubbish as I've never had it. I said their CUSTOMER SERVICE is rubbish. And the fact they tried to cancel and re open my order meaning I lost the £100 vouchers and £30 cashback. And as I've said im now waiting to see if they honour the deal. It's £120 a year cheaper than Sky so if the fibre is good then I'd be stupid not to take the deal. I've only ever pointed out how bad the customer service is and the fact they are trying to waggle out of paying the vouchers. After reading many statements on here it appears they dont honour a lot they promise. I've expressed my dealings with BT and they haven't been great.

Yep, I have BT Infinity 2. The product is amazing - but when something goes wrong, whether that be with your connection, billing, whatever, the customer services are diabolical. I said as much to the executive level compaints chap who was dealing with my billing issue.
