Buying Euros

With the current exchange rate for the pound against the Euro we are considering purchasing £5,000.00 worth of Euros to use, over the next few months, when we visit Europe and places where the Euro is the currency.
Do members feel it would be best to do it now or do you feel that the rate will still get better and to hold off for a few more weeks?
Does anyone know some outlets where purchasing such a large amount of Euros would be better than just going to the post office.
We look forward to your thoughts and advice.

I generally just use a card that has the lowest fees, like Halifax Clarity, and don't worry too much about changes to the rate, but tend to spend little and often, so it all averages out.
Perhaps it would be worth you buying some now and some later. You can compare rates here.0 -
I don't think there's any point pretending to be a currency speculator.
Find the cheapest was to change from one currency to another and take it from there. Halifax Clarity, Metro debit, Kalixa prepay etc.
With the latter you could load it up bit by bit averaging out any exchange rate fluctuations.0 -
The Euro will go up and down, but bearing in mind the current situation with Greece etc it will be mostly one way IMO.0

Euro poised to go down due to Quantitative easing. No point in stacking up euros now.0

I reckon it's a pretty decent rate at moment and have just bought 50% of my European holiday money. Rate was 1.328eu/£ at Thomas Cook online.0
